| most of the women's soccer families have been shelling it out for years and would feel pretty good sending their kid and $$$ to Duke |
the top players at duke don't pay. there are 14 scholarships to play with...the bottom 5 players families are paying more than tuition. |
most of the sports are not using all their scholarships. |
Willing to clarify for the clueless? What do you mean paying more than tuition? Are the 14 scholarships tuition and room/board and you are saying bottom 5 pay tuition, room and board or what is other costs bottom 5 would be paying? |
Not the OG poster, but I think they are trying to say that those bottom spots are bought and paid for....it will be also interesting to see where schools fall though with with new roster limit and scholarship - there's a few schools that have already stated they are fully funding all 28 roster spots plus, from what I suspect, more that are upping their scholarships overall from the original limit of 14. |
| and some well known schools are saying they don't have the funds for scholarships- even though they have the ability to award them. |
Duke has an endowment of over $12 billion. |
I know but they are not funding the scholarships. Trust me |
Oh yes they do! |
The endowment = scholarships for athletes has not been applicable for many many years. |
Please share since you seem to know...80 percent scholarship? Duke is only 90K a year, so they all ain't paying. |
100% true Also true for recent UVA grads |
| If you know the family it was Duke or bust. They are an alumni family and huge fans as well as being a very nice family. |
We had a family on our daughters club team that was so NICE. They were alumni of an ACC school and huge fans and dreamed of their daughter going there and playing. Their daughter was a very good player and a very hard worker and a great student. She never got a sniff from that ACC school. I wonder what the difference might have been? |
I just watched a D1 college game last night. Is apparent some Coaches want big, strong, fast and physical players. They won't even look as speedy, small, technical players. There were very few technical skills on display at that game last night. Hard to survive as a technical player when you are going to get ran over by a mac truck on game day. I think that might be a non-starter for some D1 schools. |
