My husband has always really wanted one for some reason. Wants to sell our Volvo xc90 to get a telluride…

They can also afford to replace it when it starts having issues in 5 years. People who buy Honda/Toyotas don't want the 5 year issues, so they plan to keep their cars long term. Kias have NOT stood the test of time. How many 10 year old Kias do you see driving around?

+1. Our Honda is now 16 yrs old and it’s the only car we have. I’m driving it until it can’t go anymore.

I just bought a Sorento and I love it. It's much nicer than the Toyota and Honda equivalent and it has a third row for emergency car pooling.

Mmm I have never and would never own one. They suck and are not reliable or well made. I agree with the poster who said they see a lot of jeeps as the beater car in their towns. Same for us. We even own a couple to drive around the beach town.

Also agree. I wouldn't own one as my daily driver, that is for sure. It's a car brand more for high schoolers/college age kids.

Does it matter when you buy new?

I have a 2012 GMC. It is starting to give me trouble. But in reality there are very few original owners of a 2012 car on road. So if a Chevy lasts only 10 years before acting up and a Toyota can go 15 years before acting up does it matter to a new car owner The average new car owner keeps car 6-8 year if they buy it and now a lease.

It matters to those of us who like to keep our cars well over a decade.

But then again, maybe we're boring, in which case a Toyota suits us fine.

A lot of people find this car comfortable. My husband is very tall (and I’m very petite) and we both found it comfortable.

What’s wrong with boring? A goal as a driver should be to be as predictable and boring as possible.

Yes, I drive a Toyota. I use turn signals and check my blind spot and drive with the flow of traffic. Soooo boring.

That's kind of the point

Drove one on vacation in Colorado as a rental and honestly.... was surprised at how well it handled. It handled like a much smaller car than it is (I mean that as a compliment) My regular car is a Volvo XC90 that... feels big but not as big as a BMWX5 or 7 or an AudiQ8. Hoping not to buy a new car for a while, but depending on what has hybrid models available, would add the new Subaru and the Kia to the list to check out at least (love Volvo but these latest repairs may have us opt out)

+1 Boring is pretty much the highest compliment I can pay to a car - I want to be bored. I want it to start every time, the same way. I want it to make the same noises every drive. I don't want any exciting new lights to come on on the dashboard. I want to go from point A to point B and not catch the attention of any cops with nothing better to do.

All hail the boring Toyota!

This right here... as a family we always own one "boring" vehicle and some more fun ones... I know the Lexus will always start and won't leave me stranded - it's a tank and that's what we want.
