They sent a troop of Marines to "gaurd" a federal building in an otherwise desolate areas of Los Angeles that is 15 miles from where the protests are taking place. The marines do NOT have live ammunition and the area is adjacent to where UCLA's graduation is taking place this weekend.

I can think of other ways to spend $143 million.
