Towson is also a poor school. In terms of students and the families they come from, yes, but also institutionally. Its endowment per student is less than 10k...which is abysmally low.

Someone with a 1480 should probably be going to a school at least as good as Tulane...Towson is a huge disappointment.

DP here. I'm sorry to tell you that everyone I know, from lower to upper middle class, has dim views of anything other than flagship state colleges and above. It may not be fair, but if this is a mental illness, then a LOT of people have the same one!

The DC area attracts a lot of people from all over the world who come here because they were able to grasp opportunities and do better for themselves than their families' situations. It makes sense that this would translate to a certain level of ambition for their children. This is neither good nor bad. To me, it's very understandable. There are plenty of other places in the world where people live the lives of their parents, and don't worry too much about where their kids go to college, or if they go at all.
