Sounds like Trump’s threats to Walmart and Amazon was quite Marxist.

In your HateTrump dreams.

A political leader telling a private company what to do is bordering on dictatorship.

If the Court cancels birthright citizenship, which is constitutionally guaranteed, then it's time to seriously consider leaving...I wonder if Republicans in Congress will find their spine. They could veto the gift of the bug-infested plane from Qatar, for example.

What can we do if we aren’t in jobs sought by other countries? If we don’t have a parent or grandparent who emigrated from a country facilitating the acquisition of citizenship elsewhere?

I hate these threads. Most people have zero options. I’m not MAGA. I’m dismayed by everything happening here. But I have nowhere to go. Many many nations are contracting their own emigration policies and asylum cases. It’s just a horrible timeline. It feels surreal.

How people can't admit the US is in a downward spiral in teens if health if the country is beyond me. All of you who want to stay to "fight" are all idiots. We as a country are broken from the inside out. There's nothing to fight for. There is only hope that we may remake the country with the help of time but this country elected Trump, pretty much a madman. Like his policies or not, as a human being and qualified to be leader if the free world he is not. If Americans elected someone like Trump, it is time to leave. It's not about loyalty mattering because of love of country, it's about recognizing that we are broken in so many places that the anger and hurt has wrecked this country to the point that a man like Trump could be held up as a leader. WTF. Any one with any brains - like really educated prof would recognize this and want to flee. It's about accepting that the level of grossness is so high in the US that the only way to truly save it is if it was in some way remade. When your economy is built on for profit healthcare and the murder of the CEO of a major health insurance Covid murdered in cold blood publicly is celebrated, there's a moral prob and a practical prob that exists. It's not exactly a great country.

All the better medical outcomes, measured head-to-head?

Who wouldn't!

They have always needed skilled immigrants.

Are their borders open? Hell no.

But they are more a nation of immigrants than the US is, at this point. They just have a points system to select immigrants based on qualities or skills they are seeking, outside of those claiming asylum

IDGAF about ‘staying and fighting’, there’s nothing I can do about anything going on anyways. We have nowhere to go and no ability to get a job in another country.

Most people have no clue what asylum really means.

Not just professors. Canada has seen a 750% increase of American doctors applying for Canadian licenses and moving to Canada. Many are willing to take serious pay cuts to get out of the USA quicker.

I would too if I could!

Who in their right mind wants to stay here. In a country that chose to elect Trump. Seriously? In a country where healthcare is a for profit industry and there's no support for mothers/families beyond guaranteed jobs after 3 months off to have a kid. Don't even talk about gun violence and the wealth gap.

Actually people who lived how F up the country is now are the ones who have issues.

This doesn’t surprise me at all. I have a close friend who’s a GP who did this in 2016. She and her family are all citizens now.
