I don't see you taking to the streets. I've spent years doing what I could. Now, I need to worry about myself and my family. We are getting the hell out of here as soon as we can. I'm not going to stay and wait to get thrown in some camp.

I’m starting to feel sorry for political hypochondriacs.

What a weird statement.

I think the US is more or less circling the drain, but I'll be honest that my focus is on getting my HS senior and freshman out in the coming years while their father and I continue to work. He will never leave the US.

I see a lot of ways this can go. The state you live in may become incredibly important as it becomes clear that the federal government has gone off the rails. I can foresee states withholding their citizens' tax dollars from the federal government and the US truly becoming the republic that so many right-wingers claim to want it to be.

Elections will lumber on, but red states will rig/gerrymander/enact stricter voter laws to ensure Republican wins. They will twist the laws to try to overturn democratic results. North Carolina is a prime example.

I'm not sure if it ends in an actual civil war. Trump will most likely leave office in 2029, as long as his hand-picked successor wins the election. If he doesn't, then all bets are off. But this administration has already overplayed its hand. I don't think they are able to consolidate power the way they need to in order to attempt another coup.

They should have left a long time ago.

Did they renounce their U.S. citizenship?

Of course not. They're waiting until a Democrat is in the White House, then they'll come back.

So no authoritarian rein? This is like a Canadian vacation?

I mean, that PP pulled that out of their rear, but assuming it’s true, why would they?

I’m sure that Germans were hoping that sanity would prevail, but the Jews that left as it was all ramping up didn’t regret that decision. Did they renounce their German citizenship?

And they’ll talk about how they fought back and what heroes they are.

If they really believe Trump is on the verge of true authoritarian rule why would they flee to the 51st state?

Wasn't this the college that fired a residence counselor over a Halloween costume?
