It would be hard to conclude otherwise since Asian enrollment is at an all time high and Asians were the biggest beneficiary of the chagnes. |
Who got rich when Harvard lost SFFA? |
Nope. MAGAs are dumb AF. |
That was a very different case. Harvard was not race blind. |
LOL ya they're delusional. Even SCOTUS laughed it out of court. |
From the same article: “I think, given the high degree of rigor. . . it’s appropriate to have a standardized test as a part of the application process,” says school-board member Megan McLaughlin, a former admissions officer at Georgetown Megan McLaughlin criticized the changes to the admissions process. She wanted some magical testing process that was immune to prepping. And quant Q told her that secret testing formats could achieve this. Because that's all test prep is, teaching the format of the year and how to strategically handle multiple choice questions. She is thinking of it incorrectly. You didn't nullify the benefit of prepping by making the test secret and creating hurdles to print, that only increases the benefits of wealth. You nullify the benefits of prepping but making the test transparent and making prepping eat and accessible. What Brabrand didn't like was the racial disparities in test results. |
The way to nullify the benefits of test prep that higher income people may have isn't to make it harder. The way to nullify the benefits is to make test prep easier and more accessible. If everyone can easily access test prep, money is not a distinguishing factor, assuming it ever was. |
Your argument is nitpicking and stupid. It's like when people on the right say that America isn't a democracy, it's a constitutional Republic. |
Enrollment was higher before the change. Asians are the only group that shrank. The white population grew the most. |
I like SOLs. Every kid gets “test prep” every day at school.
|
Right, they were deliberately discriminating on the basis of race. Who got rich when Harvard lost that lawsuit to SFFA? |
No one cares because it's irrelevant to TJ. Re: TJ, the courts have already settled it. It's not discrimination. https://www.ca4.uscourts.gov/opinions/221280.P.pdf Pg 7 “we are satisfied that the challenged admissions policy does not disparately impact Asian American students” And the (corrupt) SCOTUS left the ruling in place: https://virginiamercury.com/2024/02/20/supreme-court-wont-hear-thomas-jefferson-admissions-case/ |
It was very slightly higher for two years. There are more Asian students enrolled in TJ in 2024-25 than in all years in the school's history aside from two years (2019, 2020). Asian - 2% fewer enrolled in 2024 vs. 2020 (there are 2% MORE Asian students enrolled today than 2018) White - 32% more Multi/other - 40% more Hispanic - 182% more Black - 269% more More importantly, all middle schools are now represented and the % of kids from economically-disadvantaged families has gone from <1% to 16% with the most recent admitted class. |
I think SOLs are not great because you are comparing apples to oranges and there world be more perfect scores than stats at TJ, but at least they are objective and merit based. So if that was actually on offer, I'd take it. |
I think it's the least bad option. |
