ECNL is for suckers

At the end of the session the coach quoted costs for the season of $10k with traveling to multiple flyaway showcases. For, once again, what is currently a mid-pack EDP 4 team. I nearly LOL'd at the ridiculousness of it all.

My DS had no intention of joining as he's at a higher level club. He just wanted to see and practice with some old club friends.

He doesn’t mean per player did he?

Yes he did.

No RL team is flying to multiple showcase. None.

C'mon, you know that's not true. Plenty of RL teams went to both the NCFC College Showcase in December and the RL Florida showcase in January that weren't within driving distance.

THIS! and if you don't see it then it's because you aren't part of the ethnically diverse plain and simple. it's tough when you are the minority.

Very diverse teams up and down the North Atlantic girls league. Maybe not they're all spoiled rich kids is what you are implying, but lots of ethnicities represented on almost every team.

Lol. I guess if you consider ‘Italian’ as diverse. That division is home base for white girls from the leafy suburbs of NY and Philly.

I don't know what to tell you. That's not the make up of the girls in my daughter's age group.

I think the reason your post struck a chord is literally the last game against Match-Fit there were parents cheering in Spanish/Korean/Chinese.

The majority of teams in ECNL are not diverse. This is not to call ECNL a racist organization. It’s just a reality that youth soccer in America is very expensive so the ethnic make up is less diverse.

Yeah a few teams may have more diversity, and maybe some teams have a minority or two on the team. But that’s not the norm.

This is not a controversial observation.

Yes, it's controversial, sorry. You have to be kidding me - North Atlantic conference is super diverse. Not sure why you'd be pushing this so hard unless some rich white girl stole your spot. Look at who these clubs promote on social and who are getting scholarships to top universities. I don't want to signal out specific girls, but you'll see great diversity at MFA/PDA/PF (yes PF!)/Delco/Bethesda

Penn Fusion has entire ECNL girls teams that are all white, but keep peddling your bullshite.

Lol - I’m sure you know the difference between Chinese and Korean, Becky.

What do you think Sherlock? What's the cost of 1 parent and 1 child to get on a plane for 3 trips, with hotel, rental car, lodging, misc expenses? Gotta add the cost of the ECNL-RL $4K club fee.

You think soccer is expensive and not diverse? I would recommend you take a look at ice hockey. I played it for 10 years...

Soccer is probably the most diverse youth team sport save for maybe basketball. Kids soccer is more diverse and than baseball, softball, lacrosse, volleyball, hockey.

My kid is AA and one of 3 non white kids on her 2012 team. It’s not diverse but at least she’s not the only one.

The term diverse does not have to be exclusive to skin color.

Agreed. But the context of this current discussion was specific to ethnic diversity.

Missing the narrative joe the plumber american sports dad. Socccer is the most played sport globally, most popular in most countries too. Ice Hockey not so much so when not everyone in a country as large and diverse as the U.S. is playing soccer like the world is its worth noting; maybe thats why we are no good a soccer?

Middle posts (part 2) - MLS Next is better than ECNL lolz!!!
