It's all rumors - I wouldn't even worry about something that not a single person has a real source for

Get your kid to reach out to the school now and remind them of their medical needs and ask what their plan will be to accommodate. That will ensure this won’t be something that they didn’t miss accommodating until the last minute.

The new dining hall will not be finished. No indication that any dorms will be delayed. If that were to happen, they will make sure accommodations are available.

The new dorms are considered “premium” and more expensive than the older ones.

The difference is around $1,200 per year. Room selection is random with early selection for kids with medical or religious accommodations and a couple LLCs. Room selection happened last week.

+1. And ai have a senior moving into Pine (Global Village, which is language housing). As are several of her friends. She has not heard either formally or “through the grapevine” that there will be any issue moving into Pine on time in August. We have not been informed that this could be an issue as parents.

Parent of current WM student here - my student heard that students designated to live in the new dorms received an email just before school ended that there could be delayed with temporary housing in GGV. I think several of the buildings in the new complex will be finished but one may not be.

Also, it doesn’t sound like the new dining hall construction has really started yet so I am going to guess Caf may still be used next year.

With all that said - GREAT school and am just thrilled with it as a parent. Get on the parent FB page which is a great resource.

You can see pictures of the new dining hall construction in progress from many months ago yet you are saying the construction hasn't really started yet.

This isn't true. The new dining hall is inside Pine hall (look at the floor plan). My daughter is in a language house in Pine next year and I can confirm none of those students got an email about delays.

Hi! Another language house parent with a Pine student. Can confirm. No indication Pine won’t be ready. I do that during exams they extended the construction hours on the new dorm that will complete thee Lemon Hardy triangle, which pissed kids who were studying off with early morning noise. Maybe that’s where the rumor started?

I’ll check it out. This is just what my DC told me. He didn’t think the dining hall construction was far along and he heard from some other kids that they’d received an email about potential delays on the new dorm. He seemed pretty clear about the email so maybe it went to just a small group of students in one area that may not be done. I have no idea of specifics and am not trying to start rumors. It just might be something to keep an eye on.

If that email was real, it went out to upperclassmen so would be a dorm that wouldn't affect freshmen.

How many parents have been to see the campus in the last week or two?? Looking online is silly. Why not ask some of the workers on campus??

Sure. I’m driving 3 hours each way on 1-95 in 96 degree heat. Vs just calling Residence Life.

What a stupid suggestion.

We did a tour there a little over a week ago. They mentioned the dorm renos but not anything about delays, although I’m not sure they would have since obviously it wouldn’t impact any prospective students. They did mention that the dining hall was delayed, however.

LOL. With all the rain and super hot weather. What could go wrong!

If parents actually go look at the campus, they will find that all the dorms have pluses and minuses. It also depends on where the kids classes are. For instance. If your kid has a 0900 class where they do not go by a cafeteria, will they eat breakfast??? Do you really want your kid to have a Starbucks across the street from the dorm?? Should your kid eat at The Cheese Shop everyday? The best dorm will be the one they eat breakfast on the way to class. And is close to the a cafeteria for rainy days. The dorms all have the same furniture with four walls.
