Don’t feel sad for me though. One day I’ll have to get an ocular implant (you’ll buy me that, too!) and my titanium knee cap works just fine and only aches on really cold days. And I killed stacks of guys during my tours before I finally got hit bad enough to get separated. So I have a comfortable-enough pension, with SRD payments on top of it, and I have a double-dip career that I really enjoy. It’s not as exciting as riding on Bradleys or Chinooks and shooting BG’s, but I still like having something to do during the week. Plus I really like working with young people. Gen A is really going to turn this country around - they are sick of your BS.

I don’t beg for praise about any of my life choices so I am not asking for any laudation. I work with children all day and hopefully am raising the next generation to be kind and empathetic and decent people. I also vote, pay taxes and am engaged in civic life. I contribute to my community through volunteering. And I don’t ever bring any of that up (especially to random strangers) in a bid to lord over others or taunt people. Why? technically, neither Vietnam nor Korea were wars. Should those veterans be ignored? What about all the veterans who never saw active duty but still served the country?

Completely new poster to this thread. I am one of those gross (ex) military wives. I have not supported most of the conflicts we have sent our troops to. But I do, and so do .y civilian friends, support the individual men and women.

Yes, there is a new wrinkle..the Maga thing makes people distrust groups of people.

But since Vietnam, in Desert Storm, somalia, Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan, generally people have been great to the people who serve even if they don't live the instutii.

Veterans day is the least we can do. The VA is the most critical but Trump changing it from vegwrans to victory is so...IDK. Just terrible.
