Are you terrified that YOU could be wrongly deported and then the US would refuse to bring you back?

Wow no one believes that. American citizens are kidnapped off the street and sent to Gulags with no trial or due process. I remember when the right care about sh#t like this and the constitution.

What US citizen has been “kidnapped off the street and sent to Gulags”?

First they sent the illegal immigrants to a literal concentration camp with no due process and I said nothing, for I was not an illegal immigrant.

Then they sent the legitimate asylum seekers to a literal concentration camp with no due process and I said nothing, for I was not a legitimate asylum seeker.

Then the President went on TV and said he wanted to send US citizens to a literal concentration camp and I said "don't worry, I'm pretty sure I know how the rest of this goes - he stops there and everything is OK, right?"

Being a citizen means something. I know you and yours don’t know the difference between legal, illegal and a citizen, but they are worlds apart from each other.

Despite your feelings, any noncitizen here in the United States is a guest. And as a guest they need to know that they can be removed.

You must have missed the white house press conference where they proposed sending *American citizens* to prison in El Salvador.

But why? Under what grounds would a random US citizen be sent there?

An accusation that someone vandalized a Tesla seems to be all they need to ship you off to the gulag.

Have you tried not to vandalize someone's Tesla?

Then why are you taking a chance and yapping on the intermet about this if you're so terrified?

Or is this another drama queen act?

Honest question: do you have good close friends who are black, brown, have accents, etc? Yes? Great, have a conversation. No? Why?

Do you go through life with a chip on your shoulder? Are ya hanging on to that persecution complex for dear life to it? Yes? Why?

So in conclusion, you do not actually have friends who are POC or even anyone who is a first generation immigrant? You live in a white bubble where thinking about this from a POV is a thought exercise you can't be bothered with because you literally do not make good friends with anyone who is not a white European American?

Not according to the Australian visa holder who was just denied entry.

People who aren't citizens don't have all the same rights we do, but we as Americans can do better than this. If we make laws prescribing a lawful visa process, then we need to uphold our part of that bargain. We need to be fair, truthful, and follow our own laws.

And for the Christian nationalists out there, I give you Matthew 25:40.

I have a friend from Canada who has a green card. She and her husband have lived here for 30 years. She's very liberal. She's not an activist out protesting but she comments on social media. She'll probably want to lock her phone the next time she visits her relatives in Canada.

I am concerned but not terrified for myself: I am not a citizen but am here legally. My home country is (for now anyway) a stable democracy. We are preparing for the worst but hoping for the best.

I am heart broken for my adopted country to be falling apart so quickly. I hope the damage to democracy, rule of law, federal government, partnerships with traditional Western democratic allies, evidence bas d policies and world class research is reparable but not sure anymore.

Why would someone on a green card live in the us that long without applying for citizenship?

"After 5 years (or 3 if married to a U.S. citizen), you can apply for U.S. citizenship via naturalization. Many do this to avoid the risk of losing their green card status down the line."

The most crazy part of all of this is FBA/AdoS being delusional and thinking they won't be deported to cause their American citizens.

Probably, for decades, being a green card holder (permanent resident) was secure enough.

A green card holder might want to hold onto their citizenship in their country of origin. Not all countries allow dual citizenship. That may be why they keep their green card for decades and have not become a us citizen.

Is that a direct quote from Fox News? 🙄

Trump said today he would send American citizens that cause crimes like beating up an old lady with a bat on a subway he would send them to el Salvador. Maybe he'll send Luigi there.

Oh he will send a few of high profile republicans(like Ron Paul) and some Fox News talking heads to the prison. Got to make an example out of the “ disloyal” ones to keep everyone in line. Remember the Röhm Purge!
