Are you terrified that YOU could be wrongly deported and then the US would refuse to bring you back?

I know a bunch of people here with green cards that are scared they won't be allowed to return if they leave the US.

Why? Because they have heard stories of others having difficulty reentering.

All of my Canadian friends have cancelled their planned trips to the USA. Go visit Canada. Every house is flying a Canadian flag. They spend a lot of money in the US, but not any more. This may not affect you, personally, right now, but it affects the overall economy. Employment falls as demand for goods and services falls. Sooner or later this will reach you.

I am not. Sky is NOT falling.

I take it you are not watching the news. Or you are watching Fox propaganda news which is not showing you it's been happening in our country.

Turn on the world news. Do you realize that countries in Europe are advising their citizens to not come to the United States because it's not safe place to travel to?

Then who is on the hundreds of planes from Europe to the USA just today alone? Are they empty?

DP. Don't know, but what I do know is that there are increasingly fewer and fewer of them coming in as tourists/visitors from other countries.

Could be people planning to overstay their Visa and now realized that was not possible anymore? just saying..

Or because several countries have put out travel advisories for the US?

Suppose I flew over to London for a vacation, decided I really like it, and then tried to stay a few years without bothering to comply with their legal process for long-term stays.

Would I have any prayer of pulling this off? Absolutely not. That’s because I am an American citizen, and the UK has laws that are enforced without apology. Simple as that.

Can we just be like them and skip all the pearl-clutching and histrionics? Either we are a country that cares about its citizens or we are not. We can’t claim to govern well and then take all comers in the name of “compassion”. None of us go to sleep each night without locking our doors.

If you are here illegally, the pucker factor should keep you up at night.

Born here. Citizen. Parents are also citizens.
But minority.
Got pulled over today in rural PA I think because not white.
I was nervous.

Got some stupid traffic ticket regarding the move over rule. All ended fine. But 1st time I’ve been nervous.

Hmmm - I actually think your reaction would depend on whether you were (A) instructed to leave and given a reasonable opportunity to leave voluntarily, or if (B) 6-7 DHS weirdos, wearing masks and refusing to provide proof of their identities, abducted you on the street and proceeded to incarcerate you indefinitely.

You are psychotic. Immigrants have always been the lifeblood of this country and are the only hope for our future economy. Was it an immigrant who shot up FSU?

Meanwhile this administration’s approach is to instill fear into everyone — no matter strong their legal case for being here— citizens, green card holders, visa holders, asylees and parolees. Arresting a pacifist at his citizenship interview, smashing windows in a car of people here legally waiting for their lawyer.

You may want to life in a fascist state where violence not law is the answer but most Americans don’t.

The border has been intentionally mismanaged for years and the aftermath is devastating.

We no longer have the luxury of a 42-step bureaucratic process to deal with this issue.

People who think I don't deserve to be here and have the same rights as them. That's terrifying.

Having been in the Balkans, never surprised at how a seemingly normal person can turn on you in a heartbeat.

From you description you got pulled over for not moving over when there’s an emergency vehicle on the shoulder. Lean the laws and you won’t get pulled over.

Democrats always leave out the word illegal for some reason.

DP. Racial profiling is a thing. Look it up. Can you at least empathize with someone who is not white and feels nervous around cops?

Yes because all the green card and visa holders being kicked out of the country were actually here illegally?

We used to attract scientists from all over the world and our people benefited enormously from that. Now we are driving even American scientists abroad because knowledge is bad.

Sure, after you show how the cop knew they were not white as they went by at 65 mph…..

Always an excuse vs taking responsibility for breaking the laws.

So you'd be fine if your kid just got caught up, decided to stay and ended up suddenly arrested and incarcerated in CECOT (good for the US good for the UK). He (and you) and no notice. No opportunity to contest the allegation. No opportunity to have a lawyer. No opportunity for the two of you to communicate. And no idea when, if ever, he would be released from CECOT. And you're ok with that.
