I’ve never seen so many people so excited to get broke.

It's wild. Someone told me today that this is going to be a painful ride but it will be worth it to "bring manufacturing back to the U.S." ... like, zero understanding of how the economy works in 2025. I really do think a lot of people who are watching only Fox believe this is short term pain for long term gain, despite NO credible evidence of that being the case. The blind faith really is cult-like.

They’re parroting what Trump and musk said - it’s going to get bad before it gets better. But they never said who it will get better for. Just like Trump said he’d end the war in Ukraine on day 1. He never said in whose favor it would be - we know now it’s not Ukraine’s.

We knew that all along. A lot of people voted for this s*** show for some stupid reason.

Care to explain the big picture? Provide as many details as possible.

The "master plan": Apparently he is driving down the stock market on purpose in order to:
- Force the Fed to lower the interest rate
- Refinance the national debt at that lower interest rate
- Refinance his own overleveraged real estate
- Assuming that he and his buddies dumped their stocks earlier this year, to buy it all back and more much cheaper.

It'd be too strong to say I was rooting for Trump or that I thought he'd to a good job, but I thought there was a *chance* he'd do a good job, and, for the sake of the country, I was really hoping he would. I didn't vote for him, but I also never seriously considered voting for Harris or Biden. I thought Trump's first term was at moments scary but overall pretty good.

With the wind-up, let me say: geez Louise this is going shittily.

You are missing the big picture. It’s bad for Wall Street. But this is going great if you are from Main Street.
No pain, no gain. Finally a president who is fighting for main street.
Manufacturing jobs will have to come back to the US. If these corporations don’t do it, they will keep watching their stock prices sinking.

No, it isn't. Because "main street" retailers get their products from manufacturers who have high tariff components in their supply chians, which means those manufacturers necessarily have to raise prices to cover the costs of the tariffs, and those costs are passed on to the retailers who then pass them on to the consumers. Unless they are selling things people HAVE to have - like food, the spending is discretionary not mandatory, and in times when costs are rising and people are losing jobs, the discretionary spending goes down. That means those main street businesses lose income and customers and eventually are no longer viable. Do you know who stays viable? target, Costco and Walmart, simply because they are so big, they can withstand the onsought. And when their Main Street competitors are gone, they too can jack prices up to their captive customer bases.

Nah, they all just shorted the market and will be foretold when Trump plans to announce "capitulation" from China and other countries.

Overall pretty good?
I don’t see how anyone could arrive at that conclusion. His first term was an embarrassment. He was impeached. He incited a riot on the Capital to prevent transition to new government.

History books will NOT speak positively about his first term.

OP, I’m curious what it was that finally led you to think this term is not going well.

Part of what is so sad about all of this is that China has been on the ropes economically and Trump's actions are bailing them out, just like Russia was on the ropes militarily until Trump started undercutting Ukraine.

This exactly.

There are too many single issue voters. Just vote for someone with integrity. it was resoundingly clear who did not have that.

I’m so sick of trying to understand people who just ‘didn’t like the democrats’

It’s to me like someone saying ‘I find Mindy Kaling to be shrill so instead I opted for The Nothing from the Neverending Story to consume the universe’

People who didn’t vote need to be quiet and suck it up

But what if they don’t come back to the US? If there is a major recession some of these companies are going to fail or shrink. Remember GM during the 2008 recession?

It is a risky move. But a risk worth taking. Fortune favors the bold.

The guy is insane and needs to be impeached.

Tell your liberal friends to stop burning Teslas and making the stock go down. Then your IRA will be fine.

Tell your extremist Republican friends to stop burning down the entire country (and world order).

Americans who voted for Trump have long been coddled and that makes them stupid & gullible.
