Curious where they are headed and the decision criteria ?

My DC is considering Yale vs another top ivy

It’s down to the other top 2.

Not PP, but the "other top 2" would imply Harvard and Princeton

All of you with HY offers, what did your kid do?

Are you really calling white kids with 1400s low stats and a bad look?

I wonder what Barron's SATs were like. My guess is they won't be thinking kids with 1400s are kids that deserve shade.

The only difference between a kid with top decile SAT (1390) and a kid with 1550-1600 is purely test taking skills OR a $3000 one on one test prep course only very few can afford.

Go ahead and make yourself feel better by assuming your snowflake is smarter and more deserving than the kid who “only” got a 1390

This person forgot to mention the other sources of high stats.

One is living in a school zone with houses so expensive that the least capable students would be at least average elsewhere.

Another is prepping/tutoring starting from the elementary years.

He was TO and a donor pick. This department of Education is hellbent on proving discrimination so they can fine universities $$$. Watch and see.

My DS got into Harvard and Yale. Still not exactly sure how given some of the talent at his school, but we are grateful. Barring some sort of freak experience at Visitas, will pick H. Officially, the rationale is based on the kids he knows at H, the kids he knows are going in the fall, Boston, and his interesting in policy. Unofficially, I think it’s much more simple: it’s H.

In case helpful, DC went to Bulldog days and had a miserable time. Chose Yale anyway and adores it. So those events can be misleading! Random aside, apparently there were a good number of kids who had already decided on Harvard and spent the whole time talking about it. Didn’t happen with any other top colleges 🤷🏼‍♀️

Do you think there will be any difference in his current federal actions impact the experience ar Harvard vs Yale ?

Go to Bulldog days! Most kids are happier at Yale vs Harvard undergrad, but see what yours thinks.
