I think Yale just loves Humanities boys. Know a boy who got in last yr as a Jewish Studies major, 33 ACT but applied TO. No other hooks. |
Yale likes students who care about something. |
Love hearing about kids without 1550+ SATs and a billion APs getting in. These schools know what they are doing and look for a certain Je ne sais quois that isn't just measured by these things. IYKYK. |
| There are lots of amazing kids who apply and have that “je be sais quois.” They take only a few per 100 wonderful applicants. Please reel in the attitude that these kids are “better.” It is a great opportune and theu were picked for whatever reason- we will never know. Those who aren’t picked aren’t any less fantastic!! |
Congrats!! My dd is a Yale senior double majoring in humanities and another more quant type area. She has loved her time there so much and is pretty devastated to be leaving. Definitely definitely encourage your dd to go for Directed Studies first year, it’s humanities deep dive that is very specific to Yale and such a special experience |
| My DD got rejected after a deferral from Yale. In at Princeton and Penn. We are so happy! |
| Accepted Yale and Harvard |
Congrats!!!!!! |
Totally agree. Didn't mean to sound like a jerk. But there are just so many 1600/4.0/manufactured EC kids who think they are entitled to the school of their choice. Many of these kids just aren't very interesting people - they are robots. And there are many kids with those credentials who are incredible, fascinating, kind, caring, dynamic, etc. |
I knew what you mean. I also love hearing about non top-stats kids who still get in. - np |
I ditto all of this. |
Thank you! |
| did you guys get financial aid offer with admissions? |
| There are also many high stats that are interesting. They are trying to hide the low stats URMs and mix in low stats white kids. It's a really bad look that Trump will go after. |
|
Nope. All these kids are good students. That’s not what differentiates one over another.
Low stats = 1450? Whatever. |
