Ok ok, so only half of the elementary schools get screwed. In that case, carry on!

Op's post made it sound like every ES will be affected and negatively at that.
It's mis-leading esp since some ES are already "late" starts.

Now they’ll all just get later starts. Screw working parents! And who cares about retaining talented elementary schools teachers who largely hate being at school so late. And what elementary kids enjoy after school activities that will become much more difficult to participate in?

My kids go to a later start elementary. It works well for us, but if it gets pushed back by 30 minutes it’s going to really suck, with a big ripple effect.

No. A footnote in the presentation says for option E "All ES shift by 30 minutes from current SST."

Well. A compromise is just that. Everyone must give up a little something. All 3 categories must flex by 30 minutes. It’s not even like the MS students are such great winners. With Option e they must start at 8am which is against the recommendation of the Pediatrics Acad. who wants all start times to occur later than 8:30am after much research and discussion. So, no one category is a big winner here.

Can the MS be lumped with the HS schedule (or maybe adjusted by like 15 min so that the bus routes make 1 swoop through the neighborhoods instead of 2 (HS and MS).

I can't imagine buses would be overly packed given most HS mers drive or dropped off by parents (based on the Kiss & Ride traffic that backs up).

It's already done at LBSS (and I imagine Hayfield and Roinson too) where 7-12 graders are on the same bus.

you know nothing, educate yourself before you make dumb suggestions..

That is strange since county field permits never, ever begin before 5 pm. Which field is this?

Police Field

Lewinsville, too

Your rec league is starting practices ahead of their permit time to get more daylight practice hours. Its common but not allowed. They don't even tell the teams and coaches they don't have the field yet. Then the general public gets kicked off early because they assume the rec league has the right to be there.

currently ES runs from 8:30-3:15 to 9:20-4:05. So, it runs the gamut in between currently. With Opt e it sounds like it will run the gamut from 9am-3:45 to 9:50-4:35. Not so bad after all. Each ES gets a 30 min adjustment.

Exactly. But the elem parents won’t compromise. They don’t understand anything bc they don’t have middle schoolers.

This would mean out ES would start even earlier!!!! People on here do realize not every ES starts at same time now. If go to board docs in MS thread, there is exhibit tells all start and end times. For some E will be earlier and for some later.

This is how I read it too.

Honestly, I think they should shorten the day. My district had ES start at 9:15 but they were out at 3:45. I think if they shorten the day, that would help.

Thank you. ES start times are all staggered currently and they would be all staggered in the solution. So, things are not so bleak as crazy Op makes you want to believe. All ES are not getting the latest time block as she keeps trying to infer as a scare tactic. I know we all resist change but please retain some flexibility for the betterment of the whole district’s children.

This isn't hard. If they select Option E, whatever your kid's ES start time is, push it back by 30 minutes. My kid's school start time is 9:20 am. So her start time would be 9:50 a.m. If your kid's ES start time is currently 9 a.m., it would get pushed back to 9:30 a.m.
