I’m the other PP and this is still wrong. It’s almost like you don’t know anything about UVA admissions, or the demographics of northern VA. Why are you even here?
|
My kids went to school in northern Virginia and are at UVA. Try to stop being stupid - I know it’s hard for you! |
DP. Just regarding the bolded, they only have a 16% yield rate for OOS students, and barely over 50% yield rate for in-state. https://research.schev.edu/iprofile/234076/University-of-Virginia |
DP. Really sick of you always trotting out this line when someone criticizes UVA. You have no idea who is posting, and I guarantee you, the kids at VT aren't giving a second thought to UVA. Stop trying to implicate a school with zero proof.

UVA has a 16% OOS yield rate? That's awful for a T25 school. |
Agreed. |
[/b] It's wrong. UVA's yield fluctuates between 42 and 48%. https://www.collegetransitions.com/blog/how-to-get-into-uva/#:~:text=UVA's%20yield%20rate%E2%80%94the%20percentage,who%20are%20admitted%20is%2042%25. |
and false. Google UVA yield rate. For class 2024 it is 42% |
VT is UVA's rival. The students troll here all the time as do DCUM high schoolers. |
Your link doesn't work with good readon. UVA's overall yield for class if 2028 is 42%. From the horse's mouth: https://ira.virginia.edu/university-data-home/undergraduate-admissions#:~:text=First%2DTime%20First%2DYear%20Applications,taken%20at%20slightly%20different%20times. |
Because at the same time they also post saying "it's not just about grades" or "it's not just about test scores" immediately before admissions results are released showing selectivity has dropped to 12% for in-state. Or they use the euphemism "wholistic" which translates "we do whatever we want", especially when it comes to URM and first gen status. If you attend an info session, almost all of the questions are answered in an affirming way to emcourage your kid to apply. As to expected ("most") rigor and 4 years of foreign language, that's what all the T25s want to see. |
+1. I'm a college counselor. There is no demographic that has "no problem getting into UVA". It's a very tough admit, in large part because - unlike privates and other states - we have the SCHEV stats. That, combined with Naviance and SCOIR data, mean that students do a better job of self-selecting when applying to top VA schools. When you are at Langley and you see the SCHEV stats of 4.5 and 35 ACT at the 75th percentile and you see from Naviance at Langley that the clear cut-off is a 4.4, 34 ACT and that went to an URM you do not bother applying to UVA. The applicant logically moves down a step. This is affirmed also by the public high school counselors who will show parents and applicants the SCHEV and Naviance scores to give them a more realistic view of their true options when selecting reaches, targets and safeties. |
You show up in almost every UVA thread with your terrible takes. You can’t even spell or explain your own contradictions. Maybe talking about college admissions isn’t your forte and you should find another forum on here. Your “contributions” are bad. |
Whose idea was this? Your wife better love you. Because if she doesn’t and this is some ruse to get you out without losing half her assets it’s brilliant |
And UVA students/parents troll as well. The fact remains, you have no idea who wrote the post in question, and it just makes you look stupid to blame it on another school - one that doesn't need to be dragged into your insecurity. Do better. |
