TSA and FEMA

FEMA is a mess because it is boxed into federalism and outsourcing. FEMA isn’t allowed to manage disaster relief and recovery on the ground. The Stafford Act sets it up to reimburse state and local governments for their response efforts and to contract with private vendors for resources and services, so FEMA ends up being overly bureaucratic and compliance oriented rather than being mission oriented and in charge.

So I am not a Trump supporter but why can't our military be deployed to provide TSA services?

Because we don’t use the military for things like that. Why would we?

Ding ding. Our government cost so much and is overly bureaucratic because we keep trying to manage a lot of things at the individual state level.

No they won't be eliminated but I'm sure there is a lot of fat that can be cut.

TSA needs to be privatized. The responsibility and cost should be born by the airlines. Right now the vast majority of Americans who rarely use air travel pay for the people who use it the most- wealthy individuals and business travel. This subsidy must end.

FEMA is the opposite of what you say. It work with the state officials and is not in charge to “manage” a disaster. There is no way any red state would allow FEMA to be in charge. There is no way the federal government could roll in and take over a state’s response. You really do not know what you are posting about.

You can’t read. I agree with you about FEMA but I said it coherently. You are wrong about TSA. Private airport security is what got us 9/11.

Why are you so sure of this? How much do these people make? How are they managed? Where are there inefficiencies? 19 year old coders can't make these determinations by looking at the "Pay to the Order of" line on a check over at Treasury.

Don't really care for Trump but this news of FEMA funds being used for migrants makes angry with relatives affected by the hurricane in NC that have not been helped.

Does anyone understand the level of damage the recent storms have done in the southeast united states? And not a single word about it, the deaths or anything. Trump went to Daytona and rode around the track in his Limo yesterday and is golfing today. Meanwhile hundreds of Americans are suffering with what appears to be no state or regional coordination for relief efforts.

This is what those people voted for. I do not want any of my tax money going to help those people. The days of helping another state out are done.

Republicans on the whole don't care. And southern Republicans are easy to convince to act against their own self interest; I know, I used to be one.

Not all planes are passenger planes, and passengers are not all that planes carry. More than a third of the total value of all goods shipped is on planes, and about a fifth of all planes are not passenger planes.

So taxes are not supporting just rich frequent flyers. They are supporting global trade and a decent chunk of our GDP.

Uh, X is nothing but a propaganda outlet for Elon Musk. I seriously hope that was sarcasm.
