Why do you engage with MAGA on DCUM?

I am seeing a trend that looks very suspect - MAGA jumps in on a thread, another responds in support and then you engage. I think there are less than a handful of MAGA, they respond to themselves, and are attempting to make it look like they are all over the place in massive numbers (tracks). Syntax, punctuation, very limited ability to defend their point, and very old references indicate they are retired boomers trying to upset Gen X/millenials on this board. The last thread I read challenged calling 47 a hillbilly claiming one’s love for an actual Arkansas hillbilly - Clinton. Honey, I was in early elementary school when he was president. I don’t love nor do I think about him when speaking about recent presidents.

As the title mentions, why do you respond back and engage with MAGA? I get it can feel good but wouldn’t it be amazing to watch them fade into the corner and die their impending boomer death asking why no one is looking at or talking to them? Whatever happened to not feeding the troll and scoffing at their uneducated rants? My secondhand embarrassment is so strong for them.

To quote OP: "Honey," you took attention away from an alleged sick child to come up with this? Take Metamucil, granny, so that you can poop and sleep rather than "stirring the pot" with your banalities.

Trump didn't even get a majority of Americans to vote for him.

He got the majority of votes both popular and electoral college. Why do liberals keep acting like this wasn’t a wipeout election? You lost everything!

under 50% is not a majority of the popular vote. Stop the gaslighting.

Majority of the votes. Learn to read.

the word "plurality" is your friend. He did NOT get the "majority" of votes.

Merriam Webster: majority. 1. The greater number.

Seriously let it go. You tried to make it out like I said he got the majority of eligible voters which I never did. Trump is your president and he won it soundly. It wasn’t even a close call. He has a mandate for change you disapprove of, but you need to get over it. He is in office for four years.

What do you consider socialism?

Build Back Better was socialism. Thankfully, due to Joe Manchin, it did not pass, but Democrats were still able to pass another bill full of government subsidies and reckless spending.

Socialism like Medicare, Social Security, the military, federal roads, etc? You're against all that?
Very few people, even Republicans, believe we don't need taxes to pay for the common good (everything you mentioned). However, the difference between conservatives and progressives is how much more we spend on give-aways that aren't for the common good like welfare which is wealth redistribution which is socialist. As a liberal Democrat, I'm not against welfare. But I am against abuses of the system which seems quite broken.

New poster to this thread. I am in favor of a social safety net, and am in favor of going after those who abuse the system but frankly what we now have going on right now with the oligarch class abusing our system to the tune of hundreds of billions, their plans for destroying our middle class and dismantling 50 years of progress on protections for workers, for the environment, for civil rights and everything else while literally buying Presidents with no real aim other than further enriching themselves, is far worse than anything else.

And I do think the MAGAs here fall into several categories. Some are very likely boomers as the OP suggested, who take everything they have for granted while wanting to pull the ladder up behind themselves, but others are redpilled young males who are completely indoctrinated and clueless to reality (especially the DCUM MAGAs who post glib one-liners not understanding their ass is completely flapping in the breeze), while others are deranged one-issue wonders, like the recurring "men in female sports" histrionics poster, and I wouldn't be surprised if there are one or two posters here who are financially invested, their job in the DMV is in working for the right wing in some capacity or another, whether lobbying or otherwise. And yes, some of them don't sound very bright, and there is at least one or two who do a lot of arrogant, condescending posts attempting to gaslight us thinking they are much smarter than they actually are. For sure, there are some prolific MAGA posters who are VERY recognizable based on their style.

I've never seen arrogance this astounding. Well done.

In the 2024 presidential election 43% of females between the ages of 18-44 voted for Trump. The number of females 45+ that voted for Trump was even higher at 47%. Who did your mother vote for? Your aunt? Cousins? What about your daughter? Is she hiding something from you?

More people voted for Trump than Harris. Once you step outside your echo chamber and into the real world it’s a 50/50 chance you are interacting with a Trump supporter. It must be unsettling to think about that.

There are far less Trump "supporters" than there are Trump voters. There is a big difference. Take 2020 for example. 155 million foolishly voted for Trump and Biden. Very few of those 155 million were actually Trump or Biden "supporters". The majority is smart enough to know that neither of those elderly clowns should be president and therefore don't "support" them but people feel the need to vote for one of the major party candidates because that's what they've been brainwashed to do.

We desperately need a 3rd party who stands up for the middle class. Because you're right when you say that Republicans are for the rich. And the Dems are for...well...who knows? They abandoned the working class in favor of "the most marginalized." As for men in women's sports, I use that one a lot because it represents a whole cadre of woke insanity: defund the police, teaching CRT, open borders, etc. because it's the craziest of them all.

He won by 200,000 votes across 5 states. that is close.

Because they just aren’t very good at math. Hence why they keep trying to dumb it down in schools.

Trump won about 90% of the counties across the US.

Now:
Unemployment 4.1%
Gas $3.12/gallon
S&P 500 5,997
Inflation rate 2.9%

The sad thing is, you live in a right wing bubble, and you’ve been manipulated to be passionate about things that aren’t issues.

Did you miss the last four years and the pain Biden’s inflation and border policies brought us? You can’t just wipe away the increase in prices because the inflation rate went down (slowly).

Trump said he’d fix it. Energy prices will be cut in half by the end of the year. Groceries sooner. He’s on the clock starting tomorrow to get it done.

Did you forget there was a global pandemic? Four years is not a slow recovery from that.

Price increases during record breaking corporate profits is not inflation. That’s corporate greed. Only Kamala and Joe called it out and want to do something about that. MAGA called them communists for it. Make up your mind.

"Corporate greed" is the new liberal boogeyman.

Biden caused historic levels of inflation. Own it.

Inflation is 2.9% FACT

Down from 9.1 during Biden’s term. Those increased prices don’t go away. They are compiled. Stop the gaslighting.

Pandemic. My god, you make me more sure than ever that I was right to leave my rural PA town.

I'm not going to equate the two parties during the Trump era but it is true that both parties are fully committed to looking out for the interests of their wealthy donors first and foremost. The very sad thing is seeing regular everyday working class people continuing to be fooled into donating money to RNC and DNC causes.

I keep reading variations of this in this forum. What is the alternative? We don't have a real multi-party system like many other countries do and which are forced to work in a coalition. Tuning out and giving up just emboldens the people who are taking advantage of the electorate.
