Why do you engage with MAGA on DCUM?

To your point, it's painfully clear it's the same poster. The grammatical and thematic style reads the same across all the responses.

Nobody cares about your undergraduate degree from Wellesley. It also does not make you special. Go back to getting your news from the daily show, and feeling superior for having real insight into the real reasons for the civil war (ala Good Will Hunting).

I get it, the truth hurts. You'll get over it.

Well, that was my first post on this thread. Maybe go read a few more articles in the Atlantic and the New Yorker to get revved up, and then call up one of your classmates so the two of you can clap like seals at your superiority compared to the American people that decided against voting for quite possibly the worst candidate in modern history.

Because it’s good to remember my fellow Americans want me dead. MAGA hates liberals so much. I need to get out of my bubble and the reminder of how unhinged and brutal they are. IRL I have met a number of folks in the inner Trump circle. They’re all nice to me but it’s eye opening to see how radicalized the MAGA are.

OP this is how political forum addiction works! I had an infant when I started coming to DCUM. When my kids started elementary school, I looked at the political forum like you. Now my kids are starting college. Don’t do it OP. You can check in but you never check out!!

There’s maybe one maga poster here that actually knows what she’s talking about. The rest can’t spell, or build a sentence to save their lives. They’re also poorly informed on how their own government works. That’s a solid representation of the maga people I know IRL.

Another liberal on their high horse thinking they’re better than everyone else 🙄

So smug

I am seeing a trend that looks very suspect - MAGA jumps in on a thread, another responds in support and then you engage. I think there are less than a handful of MAGA, they respond to themselves, and are attempting to make it look like they are all over the place in massive numbers (tracks). Syntax, punctuation, very limited ability to defend their point, and very old references indicate they are retired boomers trying to upset Gen X/millenials on this board. The last thread I read challenged calling 47 a hillbilly claiming one’s love for an actual Arkansas hillbilly - Clinton. Honey, I was in early elementary school when he was president. I don’t love nor do I think about him when speaking about recent presidents.

As the title mentions, why do you respond back and engage with MAGA? I get it can feel good but wouldn’t it be amazing to watch them fade into the corner and die their impending boomer death asking why no one is looking at or talking to them? Whatever happened to not feeding the troll and scoffing at their uneducated rants? My secondhand embarrassment is so strong for them.

This is your first incorrect assumption......(bolded)
Your second incorrect assumption is that the people posting here in support of Trump are all retired boomers.
Your third incorrect assumption is that the people supporting Trump are uneducated.

You are batting 1000!

Precisely this! I’m not a boomer nor am i uneducated. I think you grossly underestimate how many right leaning people are everywhere- not just this little bubble of DCUM land. As evidenced by the election, hence Trump winning.

One major difference between you and I is I don’t wish anyone on the left to just “fade into the corner and die.” I get that you’re probably tired, with a sick child in the middle of the night. I hope they feel better.

We make your food at restaurants.

We teach your kids at school.

We coach your kids in club, high school and college sports.

We come when you call 911 for a crime, fire or medical emergency.

We’re your carpenter, electrician and plumber.

We deliver your mail and see what letters and magazines you get.

We’re your local politicians.

We’re your neighbors.

We’re your relatives.

We’re your sons.

We voted for change.

Oh, so dramatic. It almost merits a yawn. Lots of jobs you missed. You're not our daughters, though?

Goodness. You just described me and this damn DCUM addiction. Run OP while you still may have a chance.

And let's not forget the massive number of folks in the middle. I'm more left leaning but I'm not woke and insane. OP probably thinks I'm MAGA becauseIi don't want my kids to be taught CRT in school or for my daughter's to encounter men in the ladies room.

Grow up.

+1

Democrats think that people should only identify as democrats and vote democrat.

Democrats call anyone who isn’t a democrat a troll. I know it’s shocking, but not every American is a democrat.

Democrats believe democracy only exists if a democratic candidate is elected president. They believe every four years, a democrat should be elected as president. They believe a democrat is entitled to the presidency. If a democrat doesn’t win, there was interference, fraud, or everyone is stupid.

How can they think this? It’s delusional.
