My parenting motto is I want my kids to be Good Parents, Good Spouses, Good Friends. So anything that serves those goals takes priority over the rest.
A family of origin motto was “never pass up a good story.” A favorite family activity is to sit and tell stories of things that happened—the funnier and weirder the better. So if something would make a good story? That’s a good enough reason to give it a shot. A personal life philosophy is “Walk your own path.” |

This is counterintuitive to a lot of folks, but:
"When in doubt, do nothing." In my younger years I was always compelled to "do something" when I saw an issue or a problem. I eventually learned that sometimes the best thing you can do is nothing. Involvement does not always help. Activity is not action. Output is not outcomes. My life is a lot calmer and more enjoyable now. |
