Teacher criticizes Trump

How about if a kids recognizes the similarities between Trump and Hitler? Now, that is called learning, not something a teacher did.

I’m not concerned because I live in a very blue area. I also don’t want my students thinking that I support a racist.

That was a good time to discuss stereotyping. Do they think all White Americans think alike? Do all Black Americans think alike? You had to shut that down.

Learning to write persuasive and argumentative essays and analyze persuasive and argumentative essays is a key skill in English classes. Book reports and analytical essays are only one part of English.

If you are old enough to spout off about politics in class, you are old enough to find out people disagree with you. Learning to handle disagreement is part of growing up.

Good point!

You can do those on topics raised in the literature or select non-political topics. One of the ill downstream effects of Lucy Calkins' writers' workshop is that writing increasingly centers on a student's life or thoughts which lends itself to overly personalized class discussions.

Totally ethical, even necessary.

Trump is a clear and present danger to our republic, and students need to be taught this.

+1 it would be so hard for me to be neutral in that situation. Good thing I'm not a teacher.

Will anyone think about how all these insults make the billionaires feel. Their feelings are hurt when workers don't support massive tax cuts. WWJD. We should devote our lives so billionaires future offspring never have to work or follow laws.

Agree with this. The teachers didn’t force their views but were upfront when asked. Particularly true in history, civics, or social studies classes. It is healthy and good to be challenged at that age.

American top down corruption has degraded our country so much in so many ways as. We should shame blame and tax the rich people. They are dummies and we should not emulate them. Most rich people are immoral people who got good at an immoral game with corrupt rules.

Seriously. First you were mad a "woke" then critical race theory which you still don't understand. These are annoying glitches and distractions and they sure are distracting you. The republicans love the infighting. They love it while they grab more power and wealth and you drive a sad pickup truck with a trump bumper sticker and are under employed. They are laughing at you.
