What specifically did you find unhealthy about the cohort at TJ ?

Franklin has around 40 kids applying each year with "TS" or less than 10 getting in. Would the 1.5% spots for the qualified kids at Franklin be out of the 40?

If so, it would be quite hard to get into TJ, because after schools rounds the remaining kids are thrown into an open pool. LMK if im wrong.

Yes, so there's around a 1 in 4 or 5 chance of admission. That's very reasonable.

It’s 1.5% of the 8th grade cohort from Franklin.

+1. Franklin gets an allocation of seats equal to 1.5% of the total number of its 8th graders. Let’s say they have 400 of them. Franklin gets 6 seats. Those 6 seats are filled by the top 6 kids of the 40 that applied.

Yes, but wouldn't they choose the top 1.5% of people who apply? like 1.5% of the roughly 40 people who apply from Franklin. Again, PLEASE correct me if im wrong. Would be happy for feedback!

Someone posted a chart of applicants for TJ in the TJ Falls topic that shows a huge difference from the Applicants to the pool. I am not certain if that difference is due to kids applying who don’t meet the TJ requirements and are not in pool. The Admit plus pool does not sum to the number of applicants. I am trying to quote it below.

Just because people apply doesn’t mean that they meet the requirements.

The wealthier AAP centers sent kids to TJ at a much higher rate than the ones with higher % FRE. For class of 2024:

(red is best case scenario for schools with "TS" data)

So, if out of those 40 say 5 don’t meet the requirements, and Franklin ms has 400 kids, would they choose 6 people out of the 35? That’s pretty solid.

This was data for the class of 2024 - before the admissions change.
