I hope you never complain about traffic or car thefts. |
Why do you feel the need to personally attack people who are making truthful comments that are critical of WMATA? Seems like an odd pastime. |
Every time there is crime at Tysons everyone bemoans the Metro. And inevitably it comes out that the criminals got in a car and drove away. Simply put, it makes no sense at all to steal/assault and then go straight to the only public transportation available. |
I don’t usually agree with CATO, but this article is pretty accurate. https://www.cato.org/policy-analysis/transit-urban-parasite |
How is "I hope you never complain about traffic or car thefts." a personal attack? |
Especially if service were really as bad as people are claiming it is. You commit your crime, you make your quick getaway, then you stand on the Metro platform toting your stolen goods and wait and wait and wait for a train? |
Given that WFH isn't likely to change much, you can expect ridership levels to never return to those levels. BRAC also moved most defense agencies and contractors outside the beltway where metro is not. |
Now do pentagon city mall |
Exactly. A significant number of the crime stories there involves suspects fleeing to the Metro. As for Tysons, the reason why people link the rise in crime to the Metro is because the crime started rising once they put in the Metro stop. The county even acknowledges the problem because shortly after the Metro stop was installed the FCPD created the “Tysons Urban Team” in recognition that the area now had “urban” crime problems. https://www.wusa9.com/article/news/local/virginia/special-police-unit-forcuses-on-tysons-corner-crime/65-f915460e-32f6-48af-a9c1-d4332499e29d |
| Y'all are going to have to decide whether transit is useless for transportation or not. Your TRANSIT ENCOURAGES CRIMINALS narrative conflicts with your TRANSIT IS USELESS FOR TRANSPORTATION narrative. If transit truly were useless for transportation, then people would not be able to use it to go places to commit crimes. If people are using it to go places to commit crimes, then it's obviously not useless for transportation. There is no TRANSIT IS USELESS FOR TRANSPORTATION EXCEPT FOR TRANSPORTATION GO TO COMMIT CRIMES option. |
You don’t make any sense and are just arguing with yourself. |
I take metro more than once a week and have never been in a car or station with someone smoking weed. Outside the station, yes. Inside of it, no. |
Then you should consider yourself lucky, because its a very common and persistent problem on Metro. |
I was on a Metro car once recently where someone was vaping, but it didn't make me decide "Transit sucks, from now on I am driving everywhere!" because I am not bonkers. |
You’re lucky it was only vaping. Maybe people smoking cigarettes, marijuana or vaping with you in a confined public space is acceptable to you. That’s not a majority opinion. |
