Throughout history people have certainly used violence to overthrow the wealthy ruling class keeping them impoverished. Our country was build on escaping an oppressive monarchy. I don’t know why we think there isn’t a tipping point at which people will begin to return to violence. As a PP mentioned Citizens United was a gateway decision that gave limitless power to our corporate overlords and all the legal methods of trying to pass reform for the working and middle class are essentially nullified. It’s unrealistic to think there isn’t a rock bottom in which wealth inequality gets so bad that enough people revolt. I hope we don’t get to that point, and if it does it may not be within our lifetimes. But the growing wealth gap cannot keep accelerating at the same pace without a societal upheaval. |
Yes, take note health insurance companies! It is not acceptable to hurt people. |
Right?! That’s cute that the PP thinks innocent people (including children) aren’t already getting shot by untrained gunmen. What happened to this CEO is literally a Tuesday afternoon for many, it just happened to get headlines because he is rich (plus add in an attractive mysterious shooter with a manifesto). But guns are now a leading cause of death for kids in our country. I would love to see that change before we expend any great efforts to protect the CEOs of this nation. |
The process to elect people to solve our problems has literally been taken over by corporations who were deemed to be “people” under the first amendment. You hit the nail on the head there is no political will to make changes because the only political options we are given are people accepting significant donations from the billionaire class. Wake up and realize these people have purchased our political freedoms. |
Injecting race into every single thread is so boring, and so last year. People have moved on, so should you. And when you do, look around and realize that nobody is mourning this rich white guy. That’s the point of the thread. Get it? |
No but we have licensing requirements and DUI checkpoints and traffic courts and mandatory insurance coverage, etc. for cars. That would be a start with guns. |
No, but I support putting CEOs on trial for murder if they knowingly and wrongfully deny care that leads to death. I also support putting CEOs on trial for assault if they do the same and it leads to harm or insurmountable pain, especially in children.
The murderer was wrong. We should do what is right. |
Eh. Take race out of it, then. A white guy in a trailer park in West Virginia who is a known criminal and screwed many people over pisses off the wrong person and gets shot. Nobody would care. They’d say he had it coming. |
I like this idea. And in the case of using AI and third party quotas, the charge should be mass murder. This is a terroristic act on the American people. |
+1 I don't condone murder, but other than feeling bad for his children, I don't really feel bad about his death either. |
But now that people see it’s a poor little rich boy who went off the rails this “movement” loses its momentum. |
+1 |
This. We expect teachers to be human shields as part of their job description. At least CEOs can afford bodyguards. |
No. Murder is never okay.
The guy was hanging out in Hawaii for 6 months and seemed to find plenty of time to go to a gym. It appears the shooter had mental illness. |
Why don't you ask the founders of the country how they enacted change to escape from oppressive taxation under a government they had no say in? Oh yeah, that's right, they started an entire war over it and killed British oppressors. You sound like a lobbyist who earns a living undermining our democracy so that your corporate overlords can buy their 5th yacht. |
