| lol the fBI goes after anti genocide protesters. You think the FBI would have better thing to do? It is disgusting that GMU is pro genocide. |
eh.. Rs are fine with white nationalists orgs, even as the FBI stated that they were more of a threat to the US than external terrorist groups. |
They went after people who had guns, ammo, terrorist flags and messages of "death to America" and these ladies had already defaced property. |
Does defacing public property constitute search and seizure? If so, the Jan 6 Insurrectionists should've all had their guns taken away, but Trump is going to pardon them, I believe. |
None of those things are illegal, and they haven't been charged with defacing property despite months of investigation. |
Arrests often precede charges. Under the circumstances, given what was found during the search, I'd much prefer preemptive action to a wait and see approach. If nothing else, law enforcement intervention may have prevented what was initially merely vile and odious speech from evolving into violence. |
Where do you get the idea that they're suspected of crimes related to support for terrorist organizations? That's not mentioned at all in the Post story about the search, which says the FBI didn't give any reason for it. And anyway, owning antisemitic books or even writing them is not illegal. |
Good thing, too, or half the posters on this thread could be arrested. FFS. |
The red flag law exists precisely for this reason - to temporarily take away the guns until they can figure out wtf is going on. |
It's true, though -- the most vile antisemitic writings are protected by the same First Amendment that gives us the right to practice Judaism in this country. It would not, on balance, be good for anyone if the government could suddenly start arresting you for espousing the wrong opinions. |
Because it is reported by MAGA "media" that may not have their facts straight? |
Quite a few news agencies have been found to allow reporters and photographers with ties to Hamas-some of these news-people were let go, but not all. Look at the reporting on World Central Kitchen. The news tried to make it sound like Israel intentionally targeted them, without mentioning Hamas's involvement and recently WCK fired a number of workers for terrorist ties and it gets far less press. |
I am almost certain if the situation were reversed and anti-muslin rhetoric was spewed etc..., they would be reprimanded harshly. |
