Oh dear. Outside of McLean, Virginia is a disaster -- you must live in a bubble if you don't see how entire areas have been taken over by illegal immigrants. And every area seems to be endless strip malls with no planning whatsoever. Meanwhile, MD is full of high-income earners in beautiful neighborhoods throughout CC, Bethesda, and Potomac. |
Sure, that's why companies are moving out and barely 1-2 Fortune 500 companies and taxes are going up, along with crime. what else? |
Half of Bethesda and Chevy are ugly and just waiting for the right buyer or builder to be torn down and replaced with new construction |
no way I am moving to MD |
Oh no, those areas are very bad. Even educated and well-off African American folks don't dare to live there. That says it all! |
This is true for about 80% of NoVa. Except in NoVa they'll just turn it into data centers. |
Hardly the case. Construction in NoVA is not as dated, especially when you include Loudon county. |
+1. Nova loves its data centers. So much so that residents will pay double for electricity costs and deal with constant outages in the not-too-distant future: https://www.princewilliamtimes.com/news/data-centers-expected-to-spike-electricity-costs/article_9b8054da-0afe-53d4-953f-f79cd09453a8.html https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/northern-virginia/virginia-cant-keep-up-with-unconstrained-data-center-growth-report-warns/3788912/ |
None of Nova's cities/places make the top 10 or 20 of the most diverse places in the country. MoCo by itself has 4 in the top 20, 3 in the top 10. |
But , they are still higher than the trailer parks of VA |

| I live in Moco and our house has appreciated 20 percent since 2020. But I also think you should just live where you want to live and not stress about making top dollar on it. Houses are for living in. |
Sigh. Did you see any in the top 10? Or top 20? Do you know how to read? |
| Nova is just overall more affluent. 4 of their counties are in the top 10 median household incomes in the US. It's actually not Montgomery County but Howard County (which is much nicer) that is the only one from Maryland in the top 10. |
Why the cutoff at top 10, rather than top 20 (where many MD counties are)? And even more importantly, who in their right mind picks a place to live based on it being in the top 10 median income? Only status-obsessed people think this way. |
