Nosy neighbors

I live in a city part time and in a smaller town part of the year. In the city I am in a small apartment with neighbors on top of each other and where I raised noisy kids, had a dog, etc. My house in a smaller town is in the more populated part of town, but there is still some distance between the houses, noise buffers, and I am only there part time, and my kids are almost never there.

I cannot believe how difficult some of the neighbors in the small town are, especially compared to my neighbors in the city. The things they demand and complain about are insane to me. But when I post them on here for a gut check, surprisingly (to me) most people on here agree with my cranky neighbors.

A tree that dangerously overhangs my house, with a root system that buckles my sidewalk. Note from neighbor - ‘we love that tree, don’t cut or trim that tree!!!’

Motion detector light in our driveway - ‘the light bothers me, get rid of the light’ … (it’s how we see when we arrive at night).

Lawn care- ‘don’t use this on your lawn, don’t use that on your lawn, you should have a natural lawn’ (we had tru green come once at the beginning of the season to aerate, and neighbor lost her mind).

Fire pit- built according to fire dept regulations and safe, and used maybe 5 times a year - ‘you can’t do this, I’m calling the fire dept (ok), the smoke bothers me, I don’t like that smell’
