If I'm reading this right, your DC got into 5/8 of the very selective T25 SLACs but only 1/8 of the less selective SLACs outside the T25. Wild!

wish people would create a new post with profile:

grad year;
public v. private HS;
major;
hooks;
any special or unique ECs;
geographic region;
college and uni names; and
where kid is attending.

should include grades and test scores too

High school class of 2024
18 apps
16 acceptances
1 rejection
1 waitlist that never happened
Was not reaching for Ivies. Focused on big state schools (MD, VTech, UMass, UConn, UI, etc) and some smaller schools that have a decent rep for the major DC wanted)

He received 5 acceptances and 4 rejections.
My one piece of wisdom/advice is that as you offer input on the application list, recognize that more schools on the list means more possible rejections. Your kid will need more resilience to stay optimistic and keep it all in perspective.

This is great advice!

Both of mine applied early decision. Both accepted. So one and done for each. No regrets. They both go to T20 schools that were their first or first-ish choices. It saved a lot of stress senior year.

Yes, and 5 rejections were from Mount Holyoke, Bryn Mawr, Smith, Barnard and Wellesley. Sigh!!

Would you mind sharing what you did wrong so we can avoid the same mistakes? Thank you.
