At what age allow highlights/hair treatments?

I wouldn't agree to wave/perm stuff, you can get waves with plentiful other techniques (also is this kind of treatment back in style? ick)

Balayage or highlights need at least 6 month touch ups, probably a couple toning sessions in between those 6 mon touch ups. It’s still $$$$

My kid did this 😬 She certainly learned her lesson. Zero interest in coloring her hair ever again. Your natural shade is always going to be the most beautiful.

Unless you have the worst color in the world: ultra-dull neutral light brown.

This. It’s what I told my DD who is 13.

I definitely worry about the chemicals. Plus, it’s terrible for your hair.

And so many teen girls have such beautiful hair already. Why F it up with all that nonsense?

It’s not terrible for your hair unless you buy it at CVS. You pay at he salon for experts who know what their doing.

I hope you aren’t the same people who bring your 12 year olds to Sephora to get scammed with the “skin care” that’s totally unnecessary. Or to Lululemon when there are better options but you pay for that little logo.

Shrug, I do it once a year and you can easily and fairly cheaply tone your hair at home (I do it) or may not need to if a purple type shampoo is enough.

I have never heard of balyage needing more than 6 month touch ups and my hair stylist at a very popular DC salon recommends never doing it more than that.

Because teens like to experiment with their looks. If they figure out how to pay for it, let them live and learn and experiment, including the negative consequences that can occur.

My own DH bleached his hair back in the 90s on his highschool soccer team. I believe there might have been a purple hair thing and then there was a tip thing. You'd never know it if you met him.
