My DD is a freshman this year so I don’t have too much information, but so far she’s really happy. She’s joined a sorority, met a lot of kids, and is liking her classes. Next week is Homecoming and she’s ready for a great week. She utilizes support through the SALT center which she really loves!

So far, it seems like she’s doing a great job of balancing the fun with the academics- which is exactly what i want for her in college.

Because prestige doesn’t matter for most degrees - why not go to a resort and enjoy yourself for four years while you get the same degree as people burning the candle at both ends in miserable weather? Duh. You obviously haven’t visited.

Wrong. I have visited many times and even spent time at the Westin and La Hacienda. And even after all the time I spent there, I would still never send my kids there over a VA school. Have you ever actually looked at the education system there? There’s a reason they pull students from out of state.

Arizona is just fine. Not everyone wants a T20 or is a good fit for an ultra competitive.

U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges: In 2025, UArizona tied for 109th overall and 52nd among public universities in the Best National Universities ranking.

Several University of Arizona graduate programs across a variety of disciplines have once again been recognized as among the best in the nation in U.S. News & World Report's Best Graduate Schools rankings.

The publication's annual ranking, released April 9, again ranked the Eller College of Management's program in management information systems No. 1 among public universities and No. 3 overall, behind the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Carnegie Mellon University.

I lived in Tucson for 14 years. Like all states, Arizona has a wide range of schools. I know a lot of kids who went to the U of A, including a public Az school Coca Cola Scholar. My own kids attended some excellent private schools while we lived there, yes. But like most cities, the school quality varies significantly by district and Tucson is no different. Foothills are their McLean. UHS is their TJ. Same story, different state. If you can get into UVA or W & M and pay in state, great. Most kids can’t. And not one of the other schools in VA are any better than U of A.

Hello, my TUSD public education that ultimately took me to Yale Law would like a word. And yes I had students from UofA with me in my YLS class.

Your public education in TUSD didn’t take you to Yale law and you know that. 🤣

Do you know how hard/expensive it is to get housing after freshman year? Following another thread on that but didn't see AZ mentioned.
