Many did not return.

Perhaps stories from the many that did would calm their fears.

What on earth are you blabbering about? You hate parents when they ignore their children and hate them when they care for their children.

Parents keeping their children safe is the right thing to do.

In some societies parents are celebrated.
Not here.

You can't isolate forever, no matter how much you want to.

What a load of crap. You have no idea what people with disabilities have to do to survive. If they have to isolate, they do. There is no mandatory exposure required in this country.

Many of these kids don't even have significant disabilities or health issues that prevent them from going to school. That's why they're being denied IIS.

How do you have access to private medical records? Give us your name so we can report you.

Report me to who?

As the Superintendent described, there's a difference between having a *preference* for virtual education and having a medical need that *precludes* attending school. The majority of former MVA students can go to school. Their parents just don't want them to.

I hope the former MVAers had a good first week of class. And now that MCPS has rejected IIS for students able to return to school, I hope more will get to experience class with their peers next week.

How would you know confidential student information? That would be a major breach of student school records.

Is your point that MCPS does not keep student records confidential?

Because Courtney posted it on Twitter.

No.
Try again.
There were over 800 students in MVA and you speak for “most.”

Tell us more Brian.

Taylor said most MVA students do not have medical needs that prevent going to school, saying it was a matter of parental preference.

And accordingly, Courtney reported that IIS requests are being predictably rejected.

No, Brian. Those two things do not go together.

Given that most former MVA kids don't have significant health issues, wouldn't you expect most IIS requests would be denied?

MCPS never promised that all MVAers would get IIS. Just that it was an option for those who are medically unable to go to school.

Your math skills are early elementary level. You have no idea how to evaluate data. Clearly a MCPS administrator.

Why would a child with a chronic illness ever enjoy being in jeopardy? What sort of sicko are you? Did you think it was funny when the child died of asthma at GHS after being denied her inhaler?

Was it funny when multiple students were raped in the locker rooms at Damascus, Gaithersburg and Seneca Valley because administrators moved around and did not supervise known violent students?
Another haha for the MCPS water cooler chat?

Some of those kids were forced into the MVA - so I guess its a haha that these kids are back in school.

Sounds like someone should homeschool. You've clearly got the time.

Newsflash: Those kids are not going in person. Parents will find other alternatives. They had classes with their peers in the MVA. You took that away from them.

That's NOT what Taylor said at all. And, even if they don't, they should get the choice. Multiple MVA students were turned down for COSA's for bullying. MCPS did not follow through on any promises.

Yes, he did. Didn't you see the Washington Post article featuring one of the most extreme members of MVA's former community?

And MCPS never promised that anyone who requested IIS or COSA would be deemed eligible.

Don't be ridiculous. The vast majority will return. There are only a few parents who are so self-absorbed with their own issues that they'd prevent their kids from going to school despite not having their own significant health issues.
