| I will say that some green teas are pretty bitter. But, irony to like coffee but hate tea! |
| Hot tea pairs perfectly with ramen. I used to have water (with ice) when going out to my favorite ramen place and my stomach always felt uncomfortable when eating. I think it's the combination of very hot broth and very cold water in the stomach. But now I order hot green tea with ramen and feel so satisfied by the end of the meal. |
So your argument that tea is genuinely good is third worlders in shanty towns like the taste of earth and grass flavored broth? |
| That's all I drink. I hate the taste of coffee. |

Homemade masala chai
or Darjeeling Lapchu sourced from the tea-estate. |
Just like in the US, the majority of people in China and India live in urban areas. You are calling the residents of some of the largest and most urban cities in the world third worlder in shanty towns? Beijing? Shanghai? Tokyo? Hong Kong? Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad? You realize that China has over a dozen cities that are larger and more populated than DC. Plus, these are cities that are thousands of years old, not a couple of hundred years old. America is an uncultured child compared to most of Asia. When the US drinks more sugared sodas than tea, you can't say that we are more cultured than they. |
It is somewhat cultural. If you did not try it until adulthood, you might be nonplussed. But don’t assume that your subject give opinion is any more “correct “ than that of tea lovers. |
|
OP, you are in the minority.
https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2013/12/20/chart-of-the-week-coffee-and-tea-around-the-world/ More importantly , try to branch out. It is a big wide world out there, and you sound quite limited. |
A dozen? More like a hundred. |
More like 3 billion. All of Asia are tea drinkers, plus a good half of Europe. That’s approximately half the world’s population, most of them poor, so I have no idea what OP is saying. Plus, I like coffee and tea, so where does that put me? |

I love tea and have never acquired a taste for coffee. I love how very good coffee tastes but basically the only way I can handle drinking it is in something rich and creamy-- so like affogato or a dirty horchata. I am one of those people who can dring milk with coffee but not coffee with milk.
Meanwhile quality tea is delicious to me with or without milk. My favorite is Earl Grey with one sugar cube and a splash of milk but I'll drink all kinds. I love very strong tea and make it at home with loose leaf tea. One of my favorite possessions is my mesh team strainer. But I don't think other people are weird for drinking coffee and not liking tea. Some people like wine, some people like scotch, some people like soda-- whatever. I don't care what other people drink. |
| ^meant to write I love how very good coffee smells! But not tastes-- I just can't acquire a taste for coffee and stopped trying. |
|
Can't stand coffee, don't like the smell either, haven't since I was a little kid and my parents sucked it down all day. All I drink most days is iced tea I make myself with Lipton and real sugar but not too much.
I don't know why so many people pretend to like coffee. |
Because they’re enjoying the caffeine jolt and hoping for that elusive cup that actually tastes as good as it smells? |
I only drink decaf so I do drink it for the taste. Would love for it to taste as good as it smells though. |
