Love tea.
But how do people like beer? |
Yes their Paris is lovely! I just got a delivery - a 1lb bag of blueberry green and a 1lb bag of hot cinnamon spice green. There’s a small tin of Boston (very tasty) and another of chamomile in the cupboard, and the tops of my cupboards are adorned with all the pretty colored tins from varieties I’ve tried since the pandemic - but I’m mostly into the greens now, for the micronutrient benefits of green. |

I can’t understand why anyone drinks Lipton—that rastes gross to me, as dlo several other brands like red rose). So bitter.
But OP definitely needs to watch Ted Lasso — this is a running joke in that show! |
Sweet vs sweeter vs sweetest |

I like tea. I like different kinds of tea. I like different kinds of tea prepared different ways. I’m not pretending.
Teaism is a good place to try a nice variety of teas. Rodman’s has several good brands at good prices for those who make it at home. Preparation matters. Things like tea bags vs loose tea, using good water (if you don’t like the taste of your tap water, don’t use it for making tea), and paying attention to the brewing time (to avoid bitterness) really matter. I like Paris tea. Constant Comment is great for iced tea. My current inexpensive tea is Trader Joe’s Earl Grey. Twinnings and Harney have great selections. |
You make great points! In addition to the steep time and water temperature you are so right that water quality is huge. I never use my tap water for tea, it’s almost always distilled but sometimes spring. Distilled is best because it really lets the tea shine through without any competition. |

I love tea, especially flavored teas. I love David’s Tea.
I’ll have a cup of tea over coffee any day. |
+1 you have to be on high alert. You can't grab a quick "0 cal flavored water" thinking it's just water. Sometimes it's got Stevia in it. Right to the trash. Even teas (a propos to this thread) will have Stevia in the teabag! |
+1. Beer is disgusting. I can only believe people drink it to get drunk, but why then non-alcoholic beer???! |
That sounds lovely! Enjoy

Great thought...how many beer drinkers are there out there? Yet, to someone who doesn't drink, beer tastes like absolute s--t. Even me, I've been drinking beer for 35 years and even when I quit for a few weeks (maybe Lent or just trying to cut calories for example), when I start back up, I'm like this tastes terrible! Why do I drink this crap? Then after a few, it's back to being enjoyable. So it's all about taste buds and positive associations I guess. I (and my teen) have been drinking Costco Green Tea for years. It's not the greatest taste in the world. but I feel like it's worth it for the presumed anti-inflammatory and health benefits. I have no idea how much these "exotic teas" cost, but if they are the same as Costco I would love to try them. I haven't took a sip of coffee since I was like 10. Don't like the taste or the smell but mostly, I, personally, have this negative feeling towards it because of HOW ADDICATED some people are to it. Drives me absolutely nuts how people can't function without coffee and have to take a coffee with them everywhere. |
| I enjoy variety in my drinks and tea is one of them. |
| People started drinking tea because they had no access to sanitized water. And over time, they have learned to enjoy many different varieties and have developed cultural traditions and ceremonies around tea. I’m East Asian and tea is a staple in my household. I offer tea (and coffee) to my guests as a sign of hospitality, my kids ask for tea when they have a cold or are feeling cold, I give them rice in tea when they have an upset tummy, I like drinking tea early in the morning when the sun is rising. I don’t drink chai at home, but I love going to my friend’s house and being served chai made from spices that she has toasted herself. I think OP is salty about being shut out of the social parts of drinking tea. |
