If TJ has such smart kids, why so much cheating?

Why is this more alarming than unethical boys?

Previously cheating was predominantly boys. Girls weren't doing it in large numbers. Now they are right there doing it.

I know, right. Girls used to not be well educated at all, and now with all that education they are wanting advancement. It reminds me of the wisdom of Gaston “It’s not right for a woman to read. Soon she starts getting ideas. . . and thinking”.

Okay, Grandma. But for the rest of us, that PP is right. It's not good to see girls cheating too.

Students have poor integrity.

It doesn't look like students start that way, but it's the false premise upon which their admission offer is based. Students who lack proficiency in low level algebra 1 math are being thrust into an unusual level of rigor that their middle school does not sufficiently prepare them for. Qualified algebra 1 students can be admitted but that evaluation mechanism has been eliminated and replaced with a nonsensical essay. This places innocent students under pressure to perform, putting their integrity to the test.

When racial politics infiltrate schools, it's the students who suffer the consequences.

My sense (2 TJ kids) is that this has been a problem for years. Kids under too much parental pressure, AND parents not instilling good values in their kids. My kids know I’d rather them fail than cheat. And that includes the overused TJ practice of claiming you are sick on presentation and test days. My kids are not allowed to miss school to study.

High pressure + high entitlement = cheating, I wasn't at TJ but in high school everyone knew that the NHS kids were looking for any edge.

+1. This is spot on.

NHS = national honor society?

Hardly high pressure.

Admitting unqualified students and subjecting them to a level of rigor they cannot handle contributes to the rise of cheating.

Cheating has been happening for years.

Stop trying to deflect.

No, friend. The other students are the ones cheating. You've got everything backwards.

Cheating ratio among advanced students compared to underqualified students may be 1 to 150?

OK troll. Time to stop now. Kids have been cheating at TJHSST since 1989, and people have been complaining that the rigor has gone down at TJ since at least 2010.

You are agreeing with your own post. That's cheating. I must assume that you are an underqualified DCUM poster. But, that was obvious from your posts that you didn't sock puppet.
