Chips and soda are not cheap! Frozen pizzas are not cheap! What junk food do you think is cheap?

Exactly. Growing up, we couldn’t afford that stuff.

dp This is 2024, not 1974. A 2 liter bottle of soda is cheaper than a half gallon of milk.

I also remember soda being expensive when I was younger. We only started getting it when my dad started making more when I was a teen. McD was also not that relatively cheap.

This is not the case today.

A little carton of fresh strawberries cost $4.99 (and sometimes $6.99). It's not much of a snack to last a week, and actually, it wouldn't even last week because it would start to get moldy. A bag of chips is $2.99 and can last a week.

A bag of chips doesn’t last a week. Chips cost between $6-$7 if not more per bag. Show me $2.99 chips.

$2.86 for 16 oz

Now post the ingredients, Einstein.
Highlight any ingredient that is actual food. Now YOU can stfu.

So what?

You want poor people and the disabled to be marginalized and denied food. If they bought meat with SNAP benefir, you would say they were unworthy of that as well.

People on SNAP should buy meat. They are worthy of nutritional benefits that are filling and healthy for their bodies. They are not animals to be fed the lowest form of corn based slop and carbonated sugar water that will make them unhealthy and kill them.

How much do you think SNAP actually gives? People buy processed crap because it is cheap, high calorie, and easy

You're not comparing like for like in terms of size.

A small carton with a dozen strawberries is $5. A small bag of chips that has more than a dozen chips is $2.99.

Fresh frozen strawberries are much cheaper than fresh and nutritious.

Apples
oranges
celery
carrots

what’s wrong with cucumbers and tomatoes and dressing as a side?

If you worked 2 jobs, and had to take the bus for both jobs, just how much time do you think you'd have to cook dinner from scratch?

My mother worked a low level job and cooked from scratched. She was up at 5am, worked, came home and finished prepping meals, then cleaned up. She finally finished at 9pm and then just went to bed. Rinse and repeat. She at least had a ride to work. She never helped us with hw or anything else. Too tired (and I don't blame her).

I'd like to see you be a low income person, work a low income job, take public transit to work, and cook from scratch.

I am now fortunate to wfh and earn a good income. So, we can cook from scratch and do most nights.

Frozen strawberries are gross. Also, how many nice grocery stores do you think exist in low income areas? How many wealthy teens do you see eating celery sticks?

You admit giving poor people food that kills them so they vote for you.

That’s not evil at all.

There are tons of fruit besides strawberries.

Soda is expensive vs water. Candy is more expensive than fruit.

Go to the grocery store and look at how much a carton of strawberries is.

Why do you keep talking about strawberries? Everyone knows that berries are very expensive because they are difficult to pick, transport and spoil easily. Currently, you can purchase a 3lb bag of apples at Walmart for $3.58. How much candy can you get for $3.58? Two or three candy bars?

FWIW, when I was growing up berries of any kind were a rare treat until we started growing our own. From K-12 my lunch consisted of a simple sandwich with a side of fruit (apple, banana or orange) I never got chips or soda because those items were expensive and we couldn’t afford them. We rarely went out to eat. That was the norm for most families back then and we didn’t feel deprived and we were healthier.

You admit to giving taxpayer money to poor people so they can become fat, sick, and eventually die from their poor diets and related illnesses so they vote for you.

You aren’t the good guy.

Indeed, and they are all perishable, and not readily available year round at grocery stores in low income areas, unless you think they should just eat rotting fruit.
