Why do you keep talking about strawberries? Everyone knows that berries are very expensive because they are difficult to pick, transport and spoil easily. Currently, you can purchase a 3lb bag of apples at Walmart for $3.58. How much candy can you get for $3.58? Two or three candy bars?

FWIW, when I was growing up berries of any kind were a rare treat until we started growing our own. From K-12 my lunch consisted of a simple sandwich with a side of fruit (apple, banana or orange) I never got chips or soda because those items were expensive and we couldn’t afford them. We rarely went out to eat. That was the norm for most families back then and we didn’t feel deprived and we were healthier. [/quote]
