That would be racist.

How about this? Defund the government.

How about no? I like having schools, roads, police and fire departments, airports, etc.

How about we just take soda off SNAP benefits?

The problem has been obvious for ten years at least, I remember an old NYT article on this.

So why haven't Dems fixed this obscene and unhealthy waste?

Obesity is the bigger health issue in America. No one is starving.

Apparently food stamps have been part of the problem.

The reality is that preparing healthy food is time-consuming, especially if someone is juggling two jobs or one job and childcare (e.g., getting kids to and from daycare, school, etc). It is exhausting to stand on your feet all day, then stand to cook as well as be present for your kids.

It effing sucks to not have money. My parents stressed over every meal as there were more mouths than portions. I grew up hating cooking because it = stress. Now I generally love to cook, but it took some years to get to that place.

Prepping meals can be very easy. It’s not hard to cook up meat to create spaghetti, tacos or stir fry. You can marinate chicken and throw it in the grill. Then pair it with steamed broccoli. We've become a society that wants meals delivered to our doorstep.

Exactly. If kids aren’t learning cooking basics at home, perhaps they need to learn it in school, or in the after school programs. Poor people all over the world learn to prepare food, and so do most rich people. It’s human nature.

Kids learn fast food drive thru in our society.

+1 It really is, and it costs millions to treat obesity related diseases.

Home Ec has been discontinued in most districts.

Agree. “Free” breakfast and lunch in schools is a problem too. More
kids are obese than ever before, especially poor kids. No kids are starving. They need less food, especially processed junk food. Not more. But let’s just keep shoving muffins there way.

The feminist movement said women should be kept out of the kitchen so here we are

I don’t think the average middle class or UMC American woman of any race can make breakfast, lunch, and dinner for their brat children so why would you expect a poor woman to?

The only women that do it are immigrant women because they don’t have as much fast food , frozen food, and processed snacks available within a 5 mile radius.

As feminist as Europe is, they still teach home economics to students both male and female including child rearing with test dolls . The nutty feminists here got rid of it in schools

This is a strange statement. Our family cooks its meals, but the mother and the father (and now that the kids are older, them too) -most families we know cook their meals, with occasional order in or night out. I guess we are the outlier, but it is certainly a lot cheaper and healthier this way than eating fast food all the time.

When you’re poor, you want to make your kids happy so you buy them the candy. That’s sometimes the only gift a poor parent can give

This meal doesn’t cause obesity. America is massively obese. We should not subsidize heart attacks. Anyone claiming different is poorly educated and wrong.

FYI your meal was loaded with carbs and you are setting yourself up for insulin resistance. That does cause obesity.

Omg I think it’s anti quinoa bowl lady!
