Do you let your kids eat in the car?

Even my toddler knows "No food in the car!"

Don't care what other people do but the cars of people who do let their kids eat there are gross.

What will you do when sports practice is immediately after school and lasts 2+ hours?

Eat at home.

Picks kids up at 3:30 and heads to 4-5:30 pm practice, kids say “mom I’m so hungry! I ate lunch 3.5 hours ago!” Mom responds “sorry kiddo, no food in the car, we can eat at 6 when we get home…you can go 6 hours without food despite being a growing child in a sport, you know how I despise crumbs and people who eat more than every 6-8 hours….”

Then your fat kid waddles out of the car to the field.

Your kid has an eating disorder and food insecurity issues from being denied the fuel their bodies need because mamma needs a spotless car. Make sure “spotless car” appears on your tombstone, it’s such a huge accomplishment in life.

But they’re not fat unlike your little piggies

My kid would smash your gentle little DD who is only allowed morsels or breadcrumbs for dinner

This made me laugh. My house is immaculate but my car is....not. I use the hand vacuum and rinse the mats off with a hose but I can't care enough to make it perfect. I'll just detail it or buy a different car if it gets that bad. Judge away, DCUM.

How would you know how sticky these cars are? Are other adults carpooling you around in their backseat?

Lol, how messy are you and your kids at eating that you associate crumbs and stickiness with eating in the car. A sticky console can be wiped down just as easily as a sticky kitchen table. Crumbs can be vacuumed in the car the same as they are at home.

Why don't you have a bag for trashman your car and use a hand vac once a week? Americans must be the laziest people on earth.

Crumbs only. Nothing sticky or wet. Except water bottles with lid.

Yes, sometimes. His away sports matches sometimes do not end until 8pm, so I pack him a dinner to eat in the car on the way home.

We used to when kids were small, they're now 8 and 9. I finally upgraded my car and we do not allow eating in it. It's definitely a pain to now stop to eat vs drive thru when on a roadtrip, but it's been working well for the past 2 years. They will eat some snacks (bag of chips/goldfish) sometimes if they get it in like a birthday goody bag or after a sports game.

I do. Sometimes after I pick up the kids from school or an activity, they are super hangry. This is part of the reason I don't want a nice, new car. They aren't allowed to eat in my husband's car.

Yes, but our kids aren't very messy. Last two times their friends were in the car eating, though--wow. (It's not anything I did, I think my DD polices her brother's messy eating in the backseat.)

Yes, and my car is disgusting. Oh well.

Rarely. I'm not against it, we just aren't in circumstances often that would lend to it. Even with practices and other activities, we generally have 30 min at home before we have to leave. Like today for instance, DS will get home around 345. I'll have an apple and PB ready for him and he will relax for a bit before we head to soccer at 430.

Yes. My kids have tight schedules some days and if they did not eat in the car, they’d go a good 8 hours between lunch and dinner. They need energy for sports.

The moms who refuse to allow their kids to eat in the car age into the grandmothers who “close their kitchens” after dinner to keep them clean when hosting for the holidays then wonder why their children never want to come visit.

I think this is a little kid vs teen thing. I'd be shocked to hear a teen parent say they don't "allow" food in the car. Unless their teen does minimal extra curriculars.
