Do you let your kids eat in the car?

Guessing OP’s kids are not old enough for after-school activities yet?

We know why. She’s trying to act like road trips are beneath her. Maybe someone who grew up in another country and doesn’t understand the value of road trips.

We also typically do several road trips a year. I personally value those opportunities and memories far more than having an immaculate car at this life stage.

My guess is she a sahm that has one easy-going toddler and she’s never more than 15-20 minutes from home. She’s BAFFLED y’all!

My kids private school is a 40 minute drive so they eat their bagel or egg sandwich or BLC wrap in the car.

We go straight from school to practice so they eat pasta with meat sauce, or rice and chicken or homemade burrito or a chef salad in the car.

On the weekends they are up at 6.., too early to eat but by 7:30 they can eat … in the car before whatever tournament they are at.

Are your kids toddlers?

Yes and we have a snack bag in the glove compartment too. It comes in handy when we are running from one thing to another or going from one activity to another.

DS makes a mess with lots of crumbs but DH, who handles cleaning the car, does it regularly 2-3 times a month. It doesn’t take long if you do it regularly.

We do and my husband vacuums out the car every weekend.

Why do you need to get it? Why is it any concern of yours?

Props to parents who can pull this off. We have always allowed eating in the car. Not strong enough to forbid it.

+1 sounds like an incredibly uptight person whose proudest accomplishment is never have let anyone eat in her car.

Personally I just don't care that much and have not bigger fish to fry.

And then feed to the kids in the car!

Yes. Our in-laws are a 9 hour drive away, my sister is a 6 hour drive, and my mom and our best friends are 2 hours away. We try to see ILs / sister 2x a year each, and we see my mom every week (though she usually comes to us.) We definitely eat in the car. My youngest is disabled and sleeps a lot so I used to wake him at the last possible minute and give him breakfast in the car (he used to sleep 15+ hrs per night). On days I pick him up for therapy, his class is just sitting down for snack, so I bring the snack in the car. The older kids may have a bar or peanut butter crackers on the way from an after school club to soccer practice. I have a 2014 minivan and we are not winning any style points any time soon.
