I've been vegetarian, vegan, and omnivore.
What makes you want to be a vegan? I like the idea of vegan, but personally I found it to be not for me. I'm currently plant forward, but still love meat. If you are full on omnivore right now, OP, stop eating meat. By meat I mean beef, pork, chicken, fish, and any other animal flesh that you eat. If that is too much all at once, eliminate one category at a time - Red meat, then poultry, then fish. Then - ta-da! - you'll be vegetarian! At this time you'll still be eating dairy and eggs. Try giving one of those up. And then the other. And then honey. Make sure you don't eat gelatin products, they can get into food very easily. And then - ta-da! - you are vegan! You'll need to start taking your B-12. For me, personally, I was an imperfect vegan for maybe 3-4 months. I craved meat. Dairy and eggs not so much, but meat, yes~ So currently I eat everything, but minimize the red meat (maybe eat it 3-4x/year?), eat poultry about once a week, and eat fish probably 3x a week. I eat all eggs, but I limit dairy, choosing oat and almond milks instead. I avoid other dairy like yogurt, cheese, and ice cream, but I wouldn't say I don't eat them often. Best of luck. |
Listen to the Physicans Committee on Responsible Medicine podcast The Exam Room with Chuck Carroll. It focuses on a plant based diet and lifestyle and is full of great resources and interviews with doctors who support using food as medicine before pills to improve various symptoms of chronic diseases. I’ve spent the last year or so becoming largely plant based and my health is improving a lot. Wishing you well on the journey. |
Please, who is this stupid??? Pray tell us how elephants and gorillas and giraffes and horses and Bison rhinos and all the other massive vegans in the natural world manage to build muscle without eating flesh? So. Damn. Stupid. |
Lol. You think our digestive system works the same as large animals? You really are so damn stupid |
I was diagnosed with alpha gal last year, and had to go completely vegan to combat symptoms. If you’re just cutting out the obvious meat and dairy, that’s easy. But when you start diving deeper, mammal based “stuff” is in EVERYTHING. Shampoos, pills, the casings of plant based sausage, toothpaste, etc. If just doing it to improve diet, not a big deal but if allergic or adhering to strict morals, it is hard.
Still, I’m super grateful to live in the modern era where I have apps I can use to scan barcodes to find safe food and grocery stores with a plethora of vegan options. |
Because humans aren’t gorillas, ruminants, or pachyderms, nor do they have the same dietary habits or needs. And you’re calling others stupid…? |
Wow, some if you really ARE stupid.
Or perhaps you think you’re smarter than all the PhDs who study this stuff. And you don’t recognize that billions of people on this planet thrive on PLANT PROTEIN and build and repair plenty of muscle in the process. It’s like you are so ignorant you don’t even realize that hundreds of millions of humans are religious vegetarians and or vegans and yet somehow they survive without consuming flesh. Doubtless millions of them work much, much harder using their strong, muscular bodies than you ignorant desk jockeys ever will. Please, keep crowing about how smart you are. That you don’t recognize the science behind how human mammals and other mammals convert sun energy in food to energy in the body basically is pretty nearly identical. Probably haven’t taken science since college and even then slept through it. You really think that primate guts are different from human guts? Lololololol |
Whoa. You are completely unhinged. LULZ!!! |
