It’s genetic. I have a girl and a boy, two years apart, raised them exactly the same. One of them hates losing and is always winning. The other couldn’t care less. Nothing we did, we were very careful to not set up any rivalries.

Friend groups and social skills are incredibly important, Successful adults do not spend the majority of their adolescent free time with their parents.

I have two teens, one in high school and one in middle school. While they do not spend the majority of their time with their parents, it is good for the parents to be around and offer support. Teens can stray.

I have one teen who has the best friend group and one teen who has been bouncing around groups. He is/was in the popular toxic rich kid group.

The pressure for teens are an all time high whether it is academics, sports or interests your child is in. All my kids are gunning for top colleges so the pressure to excel is on.

I worry about this. This will sound like a humble brag, but every activity and class seems to come so easily to DS and school in a 10/10 district is easy. I’m wondering whether I should move him to private school so he can have the experience of struggle and know that there are many many smart and capable kids out there that can compete and beat him.

Wait until he gets to college and earns a few Cs. Hopefully he survives that.

According to other threads on DCUM, a 40+ years old person needs to make at least $300k/yr to be a winner. Otherwise, they are undatable, goodness be damn.
