Not sure if WM is worth the out of state price. They have increased their student population each year since my child started. They seem to be focusing more on computer science to competed with other VA schools. Their international and foreign language departments are fading. One of the best science professors is leaving. Housing is a nightmare. And out of state kids are quickly cancelled for being “rich”. It’s a very strange vibe.

Being in-state I can see the advantage of the great name, but for the out of state price, IDK.

The W&M housing issue has to do with current construction and that will soon change. It is still much more undergraduate and liberal Arts focused than most public universities.

W&M and W&L are quite different though. I had a sibling at both. Both seem excellent schools if there is a fit and both have a strong undergraduate commitment. I don't think they overlap that much, though.

Isn't Middlebury a lot woker than W&L? I'm thinking of the Charles Murray incident.

For a kid who doesn't like frats and is interested in environmental studies, a higher degree of wokeness might be preferable. And wasn't that like 7 years ago?

You think it's gotten less woke in the past seven years?
