It’s much easier to be openly gay in 2024 than it was in 1974. |
I also challenge the PP to choose a better time...what decade/era would you like to live in? How was it overall better than today? |
It’s really this. You are either in lockstep with everything the activists say/believe, or you are labeled transphobic. How some don’t see this as a huge problem is beyond me. |
Yes. We have been here before. And soon, “hormones and surgery for children are the best treatment for gender dysphoria” will be #7 on your list. The science is starting to settle, and you don’t like it. Sorry. |
A single review of existing studies, none of which is a double-blind control (because they can’t be done in this situation, both for ethical and for logistical reasons), does not represent “settling science.” Sorry you don’t like that. |
I hope you do some careful reflecting. You are an extreme misogynist. |
^ I would love to know where you see misogyny in the above post. Please. Elaborate. |
I said STARTING TO SETTLE. Learn to read and not interpret things the way that is convenient to you. It’s going to take a while. This is just the beginning. It’s the same with the DEI madness. That is STARTING TO SETTLE as well. Thankfully. |
Yeah. Your word over the BMJ guys…you must be right. Silly me. |
The continued effort to claim that any discussion of risks and benefits of a very new medical treatment for children is “anti-trans” is in fact anti-trans. Vulnerable people need really good medical treatment, not ideologically driven treatment. There is NOTHING “anti-trans” about the effort to discern the appropriateness of puberty blockers & hormones. It’s honestly maddening how historically, medically and scientifically illiterate it is is to claim that there is “settled science and if you don’t agree you are anti-trans!!!” |
Major medical organizations and organizations advocating for transgender youth just a few years ago were saying that puberty blockers were “fully reversible” and the science around medicalized treatment for transgender youth was settled science. There are many screenshots if you care to look. Of course that’s all been removed now, as it’s obviously inaccurate. |
They’re still saying that to this day. It’s really an odd phenomenon that I think arose in reaction to Trump. Trump’s outlandish claims and lies drove people so crazy that they decided that the only way to counter it was to declare “the science is settled and you’re a MAGA trumpster Russian troll if you disagree!” And unfortunately major news organizations adopted this tactic as well. It’s all of one piece. |
The odd thing is that science is never “settled” with respect to any complex medical issue, particularly developmental/mental health issues with children. Any parent who has a kid diagnosed with anything can tell you that. How I wish the science WAS settled! The best we can do is seek out evidence-based practices, but we always have to be wary to make sure we understand the risks and benefits. |
Can you explain what the editor-in-chief of The BMJ, who endorsed the methodology of the Cass review, got so profoundly wrong? Where did his scientific and data analysis fail? You do realize you sound exactly like an antivaxxer, refusing to accept hard science because of religious belief, right? |
^ Dp, but a meta study is not hard science... |
