One site. It’s not top of fold anywhere else and the Nee York Times, in their “gee, what’s a fork for again?” way says, in a headline combo: “The Informant Turned Defendant Who Took Aim at the Bidens How Alexander Smirnov managed to convince business partners, law enforcement agencies and politicians he had something of value to offer remains an enigma.” https://www.nytimes.com/2024/02/21/us/politics/smirnov-fbi-biden-russia.html The focus should be: Republicans once again knowingly push Russian disinformation to hurt Americans. |

Here's the court filing from federal prosecutors detailing Smirnov's contacts with Russian intelligence--if anyone is interested in reading a primary source.

It's actually shocking that the judge let this guy go on personal recognizance (ie, he didn't have to post any bail). The guy was meeting with foreign intelligence agents, men who controlled assassination squads, peddling false information to influence the 2024 election, and had access to $4m in liquid cash with no discernible legitimate source. |

A GOP representative (Ken Buck, CO), who is a former prosecutor, says that his GOP colleagues were warned that the FBI informant's claims could not be corroborated.
"Rep. Ken Buck (R-Colo.) revealed Wednesday that his Republican colleagues were previously warned that the former FBI informant’s claims at the center of the Hunter Biden probe could not be corroborated. “We were warned at the time that we received the document outlining this witness’s testimony … we were warned that the credibility of this statement was not known,” Buck said on CNN’s “The Source.” “And yet, people, my colleagues went out and talk to the public about how this was credible and how it was damning and how it proved President Biden’s — at the time Vice President Biden’s — complicity in receiving bribes,” he added. “It appears to absolutely be false, and to really undercut the nature of the charges. We’ve always been looking for a link between what Hunter Biden received in terms of money and Joe Biden’s activities or Joe Biden receiving money,” Buck explained. “This clearly is not a credible link at this point.” CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins then asked the Colorado Republican if House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) and House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) used the information “to fuel these investigations regardless” of them knowing the information was not corroborated. “That’s what it appears,” Buck responded. “I certainly didn’t have any evidence outside the statement itself that it was credible. And as a prosecutor for 25 years, Kaitlan, I never went to the public until I could prove the reliability of a statement.” How long is it going to take for Comer and his committee to come out with a statement admitting they were wrong? https://thehill.com/homenews/house/4482705-republican-colleagues-warned-informants-biden-claims-not-be-corroborated/ |
The prosecution is appealing that batsh!t nonsense in a different jurisdiction today. |
Buck can go on about this all he wants. If he really wants to be a hero, he and a few other non MAGA republicans can leave the party and vote for Jefferies for speaker so we can get the government funded, get Ukraine funded and move on to 2024 without any more nonsense. |
| Putin loves how stupide MAGAs are ... he has Trump and all of the Rs in the House on his side. |
| Guess what? Fox news doesn't seem to be reporting on any of this. Shocking,.I know. |

No, I found one article there. But you have to log in in order to view it so evidently they want credit for writing it but don’t want their rubes to read it. |
+1 If we’re all old enough to remember the 1994 movie Speed, Keanu’s take was “shoot the hostage,” to remove them from equation. If there are still a few Republicans with any decency, they could pretty much destroy their party and save the country. |
They put on on page A16. |
