| Where would be the absolute ideal weather and viewing/totality? -Newbie who didn’t know what an eclipse actually was until this thread |
| Probably West Texas. The rest of the South could have tornadoes. The North could have clouds and rain. |
| A state park near Little Rock, AR |
| I can't decide! DS is in middle school and already missing days shortly before due to an extended spring break. We have family in totality so all we really need is to buy plane tickets. I just can't decided since we are dropping a lot for spring break and then another trip this summer. |
| We’re going to Niagara Falls. If the weather is forecast to be terrible we may cancel. But even if it’s not great, at least we’ll get to see the falls. |
| We are staying at our house in Maine then driving up to Katahdin. |
| Will it still be amazing if it’s cloudy? I have Never experienced totality … |
Yes |
| We have family in WNY and VT and the forecast will determine where we go. |
| You don’t need the glasses for totality. |
Really? I would have said no. In 2017 we had partly cloudy and when clouds obscured during totality it was just dark. But mercifully they passed quickly. |
| DH and I will be viewing from our yacht in the Pacific after a weekend jaunt to Cabo San Lucas. We’re installing high powered engines so that we can track the path for as many miles as possible. Not as lux as Buffalo, I guess. |
You don’t need the glasses when it’s in totality, yes. But you need them when the sun is partially covered (eg immediately before/after totality) |
That only lasts a few minutes; if you were tracking the progress until then, you’ll need to protect your eyes. |
