Are they? |
Shhhh… don’t interrupt the MAGA fever dream. They bite (or SWAT) people living in reality. |
| This will be happening in 6th grade soon. In a building with little kids!! 6th grade has already had pot and vaping issues. |
| The latest overdose notification involved a Marshall HS student. |
| Good thing all FCPS have stock Narcan in the health rooms. Even ES. |
| God I’m sick of these canned emails! |
|
I find these emails helpful. It is a reminder at how serious and pervasive the issue is. I am sorry people get uncomfortable by them but your Larlo isn't untouchable.
|
Ok |
What gets me angry about these emails is that they only pertain to kids who are attending public schools. AND most of them don't even happen in the schools but once a police report is filed and then if the child is identified as a PUBLIC school student, no matter where the OD happened, the superintendent of that VA county/district has to notify the community. Why does this not pertain to Private school children? The problem is also a huge issue in that community, its just covered up. Bottom line EVERY parent should be talking to their kids about ANY drug. POT is even being laced with fentanyl. |
Then hit delete. It’s not hard. |
|
"it is important that we treat substance use disorders and overdoses with compassion, grace, and understanding. "-- from superintendent's message
Understanding? |

For comparison here's the terrible email we get from LCPS. Of note, it doesn't list the school, the drug, whether it's a middle school or high school. Too vague to be of any use whatsoever:
In accordance with guidance received from the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) related to the Governor’s Executive Order 28, we are writing to make you aware that the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a non-fatal, suspected overdose. Out of concern for the student’s privacy, we will not be releasing further information about the incident itself. We are working with the student and their family to provide appropriate support. |
It doesn’t pertain to private school students because Gov Arseface wants public schools to look as bad a possible. |
|
I’m glad this is being done. I did not know the problem was this pervasive. I’m on the fence about whether it should be required for private schools, since private school is something people opt into and they can always leave/vote with their money if they disagree with things being “covered up” by administrators.
Most families with kids in public schools don’t have a choice. |
