Maybe true but she is accelerating the decline rather than reversing it |
Very crafty of her to go right to the press. MCPS does not need a cat fight right now |
+100 we need a foundation of strong academics in every school. |
I agree with the race layer. |
Get back to educating our future! someone else step up and deal with that while Dr.McK deals with the mess. |
Many here referred to Jack Smith as Jack, or even Fat Jack. white & male. lets move on |
Nope. Graduated from same magnet kid is in. Standards have declined precipitously there is no chance she could do as well or better. There is less material covered, less feedback, given, fewer assessments, no final exams, much less reading. |
The latter is really unacceptable and I’ve never heard anyone say that in real life. But if you’re also going to pretend calling each by their first name is the same…. Well, you know damn well what you’re doing. Yuck. |
Before she was officially appointed every union group voted no confidence. The BOE ignored us and hired her anyways. Since then, she has not changed anyone’s minds. That’s the issue. Nobody trusts her. Nobody believes that we have a path forward.
We need a new vision in which the different stakeholder groups actually believe MCPS can get better. That belief can lead teachers and staff to think more positively and be more effective. The students deserve that. This has nothing to do with sexism, racism, or any other -ism. |
I think if you actually sit and look at the PR messes in MCPS over the last 20 years, you'll find that McKnight hasn't actually done a worse job of anything. If you ask an average teacher, they'd agree. The only difference is that COVID happened and it was unprecedented, she did what was suggested to her by her advisors. What happened with JB was very public but that alone doesn't implicate her in anything. I think many of you dislike her based on your difficulties with COVID virtual learning, but that wasn't unique to MCPS, and the fact that she's a black woman. |
Unless the OIG report(s) do implicate her. |
From MCEA, per WTOP:
“New revelations increasingly indicate that the superintendent has been more concerned with protecting herself and her close associates than with doing right by front-line staff and students,” MCEA said. “The superintendent’s overseeing body, the board, is no doubt aware of confidential information that caused them to determine this drastic step is necessary. In declaring open war with the board, Dr. McKnight threatens to further damage not only her own future, but also the board’s efforts to restore the public’s trust in Montgomery County Public Schools,” MCEA’s statement said. https://wtop.com/montgomery-county/2024/01/montgomery-co-public-schools-superintendent-asked-to-step-away-from-job/ |
The decline already happened when they changed from textbooks and a standard curriculum to 2.0 and the current nonsense. What they are doing now isn't working. She is only part of the problem. The curriculum specialists are one of many. |
Jack Smith is working for the HR consultants that led the process for his hiring. So, let's see if the same firm is hired for this next round, and if Jack Smith will have another say in who is superintendent for MCPS. |
