| That was probably the same poster that was mad there was school on Thursday because there could be ice on the sidewalk when it is below freezing. |
Exactly. And sledding requires assistance for a 4yo - line up sled so it's on a clear path, hold it so they can get in before it starts moving. It's a lot to put on a 9yo who will want to play with their own peer friends. I wouldn't want them walking alone on the roads either. Take them for an hour and log in again at night? |

9 and 7 yes.
4, no way. Don't hoist the 4-year old on the older kids. Won't end well. |
Your 4 year old... has challenges. I've got one with significant special needs. He's a huge elopement risk, so he could never sled without close supervision. But he doesn't need help with the sledding part of it. |
Thanks for your diagnosis. Our hill is sloped from the start and most younger kids need someone to help them. There's also a lot of kids sledding and they don't have the judgement to know when/where it's clear. |
| idiotic poster. Where? what snow conditions? Ice? no? soft snow? what equipment? Sled? (only useful if iced snow)? Pond nearby? Other attractive nuisances like cars, buildings, etc. HOA rules? |
Keep digging. |

Of course you don’t send a 4 yo out with a 7 & 8 yo beyond the backyard. I think even a 7 & 8 year old don’t need to walk 1/2 mile each way crossing streets to sled alone with no adult nearby. If it was across the street, maybe the older kids could go, because you could keep an eye on them & get there quickly if needed. But no way for the 4 yo.

| Mine went alone for the first time this year at 11 and 13. I would have let them go alone last year if we had any snow but before that, we always went with them. |
| We have a big hill near us and I saw plenty of kids in helmets (snowboarder helmets). I see no issue with wearing a helmet. My 9 year old goes out alone for hours but she is in a group of friends and they stick to the neighborhood so they don't go far. |

I went sledding alone with my siblings around the age of 8
