9 year old daughter is petite

Lol ok if you are short (some) guys like it and you have entire clothing departments devoted to your shortness.

If you are tall (some other) guys will love your long legs and clothes will look better on you. You will get asked if you played basketball but you can gain 10 lbs and still wear the same size.

Growing up I longed to be short but as an adult I love being tall. Grass is greener and all that but my parents never made a big deal out of my height or size or frankly mentioned it in any way. Step way back and your kid will be fine.

Why does it matter if some guys like it? You are talking about a child here.

In general, a woman is better off being petite than bigger.

This is pretty common with a less than two year age gap. My brothers were neck and neck in height and eventually the younger was taller than the older one for a cookie hears. Both are exactly 6 foot as adults.

OP your daughter is not petite given the stats you presented. Pretty average sounding actually. Maybe she just seems that way if all her friends and family are way above average.

Op, your story morphs considerably though the thread. You went from “genetics aren’t in her favor” about something that is truly value neutral to “I don’t have an opinion about it and she just said it in passing.”

I am not trying to be mean but you should reflect on what you might be consciously or subconsciously putting out there for your kid to absorb. Girls that age are so sensitive and really want mom’s approval. She may think, “wow sis is tall like mom, I’m short like auntie whoever that mom isn’t the biggest fan of, mom prefers her.” Is that ridiculous and reading into things something that’s not there? Maybe. But she’s a kid and needs reassurance/support.

Just have to correct...the petite section is not for the truly short. I am 5'2 and the pants are still too long.

Cut your girl a little slack

What can you do? It is what it is. The worse is going to amusement parks.

My child LOVES being the smallest. Everyone calls her 'cute' and gives her lots of attention. She's 49" and 47lbs. My older one (15) is already 5'8" and my younger one will probably be 5'2" max- genetics are just like that.

Well OP my 12 year old boy is 55inch and 70lbs. So I don't think your daughter is that small!

The nastiest part about this is that the girl is objectively average or above for height, and OP needs help on what a bad situation this is. How is that supposed to make people with legitimately short kids feel? OP you are just so gross.

At age 11 DD grew 5 inches! So I'd def tell her she prob just needs to hit puberty. She'll grow a lot right before her period and then grow slower after that.

What??? My 9.5 yr old son is 60lb and 5’5” and he is in the 75% for height. He is slim, but not skinny.

Most of his friends that are girls are significantly shorter than him. Only one or two girls we know are starting to shoot up in height.

OP you are above average, but aren’t tall. Your husband is basically average. You oldest is above average and the other two kids are on the taller side. Your kids will be average or above average. What’s the problem? Also, I have never met a girl or a woman wished she was bigger. Taller yes, but heavier? This can’t be real. Also, based on your DD’s weight she is not even that skinny.

As a 5’3” 120 lbs woman, I can tell you that I’d love to be taller (your height sounds perfect to me), but never in my life did I wish I were heavier or larger. I am slim with some curves.
